I know they surf this board a little bit so I am leaving this up for discussion for them as well as the regulars.

Basically, I am looking at buying the M6Ne from geared2play. They have probably the best deal I have found. I am, however, a little skeptible about buying from this company. I looked at resellerratings and they have wonderful reviews. This makes me not afraid to order from them, but a little afraid about the future.

First of all, and most importantly, no offense to the company at all, but they seem very small. Lets say I buy a 3-year warranty from them and the company no longer exists after a year or two. Wouldn't i be completely out of luck? Keep in mind, everything I have read about this company has been positive so I am not making assumptions, just asking what ifs.

So, first of all, has anyone purchased an Asus, or really anything from them yet? How was the response time? Like I said, I read through resellerratings and it was all positive, there just wern't many recent posts. Also, Geared2Play.com you are welcome to make any statements you'd like or you can send them to my email if you would not like to answer on here.

Well you really didnt do much homework. We have been around since early 2001. Nobody ever claimed that we are large. We are however one of the top integrators of asus whitebooks. You can find us on the asus where to buy page. Its not easy to make it there. You can look up our id on ebay. We have been selling laptops and pc's on ebay since 2001. We also have feedback there as well. You warranty does not come from the dealer usually. If you look around nobody else offer any type of warranty like we do for whitebooks. Ours works in conjuction witht he manufacturer. WHen you buy extended warranty that comes from asus. We have nothing to do with extended coverage. This is also clearly stated on our warranty page. I can say we have the best price. We do however have the best feedback and by volume we do more asus whitebooks then most other vendors with a few exceptions. We also have the best dealer warranty.

Well, if somebody cares enough about their company to visit sites where their customers may be looking and has good reviewer ratings and a good eBay seller rating (eBay is a really good one to measure customer satisfaction of a retailer btw) then I would say you've got a company that loves what they're doing and their heart is in the business and they'll be around. I'm kind of a fan of going with the smaller players that have a good reputation, bigger guys will try and sell you protection and replacement plans for your notebook, but it's hard to tell how one store from the next will respect your plan...I've heard disaster stories.

Checkout their ratings on eBay, http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=geared2play_com

click on a username that has bought from Geared2Play.com and you can contact that member, just ask them directly and I'm sure a few would be happy to respond.

Couldnt have put it better my self. Wow you have 1200 posts. Programming must give you alot of slack time. Thats shocking becuase most of the programmers ive met only have time to pace back and forth through the office every 20 minutes. Anyways i appreciate the good gesture. Please accept free shipping if you ever buy something. Just mention this post :)

Hey highland i got great hits from your site about the ram timings. I know of atleast one referal that purchased. I try not to reffer the site to regular users becuase newbies messing around with memory timing is not healthy for biz but it seems your site is a constant refferer from what i gather looking at our hosts stats. Thanks for the post....again. I cant give you free shipping because you got lifetime free shipping. I really appreciate all the refferals :)

I bought a z81sp from Geared2play back in april (?) and plan on going back next time I buy a laptop. Nothing is perfect but this is as close as you can get. Whenever I call Geared2play about a problem I always talk to eddie and he's always helpful.

I bought an msi-1029 from ibuypower.com a couple of months before I went to geared2play and it was a nightmare. the machine had a number of defects; the caseing hadn't been snapped together all the way, one of the catches for the latch claws was missing, and it had a problem with crashing that got progressivley worse over 2 days. When I tried calling tech support I was put on hold for 20 minute before being told to reformat and send it back if nothing improves. I didn't want to take any more risks with that company and sent it back for the 30-day money back gaurantee.

I've also had gateway notebook, which worked fine, but was a little pricier and didn't have great tech support.

i dont know how to reply. This thread made me feel pretty sad. 2 whole years went by and it only seems like i replied to this a few months ago above. where does the time go? Soon i will be an elderly man and people will still know me as eddie the computer guy. what will happen when i retire in 40 years? will asus still make laptops
In reading my reply i came to the conclusion that i was a cocky sob and just had a hint of arrogance. How 2 years will age a man :)

I feel the same way about posts i made last week  . It's a sign of maturity when you realise that sort of stuff. :)

I wish the dealers on this board had stores in australia - it's nearly impossible to get any decent dealer support here - especially if you are an enthusiast - all they want is a quick sale with no fuss. If you ask questions most reps seem to get defensive.
