What's everyone's GPU running while in games? I'm seeing 100ish in WoW @ Max settings which seems quite high but who knows.

I ran 3DMark06 and got 100C or so and that was a bit alarming to me, but if everyone else sees that kind of temp then.... man that's hot.

CPU runs 55C idle and like 70 on regular loads ( I would consider WOW regular )

a desktop cpu don't get that hot but desktop 8 series get around the same temp too even though it gets to 129c before shutting down.

Topic is about the 8600M GT temps, lol...not the E6600. My E6700 runs at 55c idle, a little hotter while gaming but nothing out of the ordinary.

I'd spool it if there was a program to turn up the "boost" :p

yeah. my c90 GPU runs ( average ) around 80 idle and hits high 90's in 3dmark 06...

RGS mentioned that according to ASUS 65-85deg C is a normal temp range... for the GPU>

I also read somewhere that Ken from gentech advised ( forerunner ) that his replacement C90 unit only runs around 70's for the GPU.

Guess im also wondering what the real temp range should be...

mine is 74 -77 at idle havent looked at it while gaming though, running pcmark (during shader test) temps went up to 80 in sec.

idle for me is 65-69, working office or something else 70-72, gaming 79-85, hard gaming up to 95 oC. Temperature range change also depending on your room temperature and where you place your laptop. All this temperature are under standard mode

idle for me is mid 40's and gaming is mid 50's

i must be damn lucky because all of my temps are usually alot lowers than every one elses

current temps are on speedfan with the computer on for about an hour - standard mode:

    HD0: 51C
    Temp1:47C
    Core 0: 54C
    Core 1: 53C

unless im mistaken, i was under the impression that temp1 is the vga? am i wrong?

i hope im right :) cuz i like it lol

Speedfan measures your cpu temps buddy. Temp1 is the case temp. Depending on where the sensor is I'd say its right next to the hardrive.

haha. hey kickace, maybe u could help us out coz we're really curious what our temp range should be. maybe u could use everest... to check the temps. ( actually i compared everest and rivatuner and they seem to produce similar results. )

Now this is interesting, I head off to work running the Nvidia stability test in a loop. Come back 4+ hours later and it is still running w/ GPU temp at 88C and the fans running. I close the stability test, the fans quiet down and watch as the temperature rises all the way up to 99C. I launch the stability test again the fans kick in and I'm back at 88C.... wtf is going on?!?

    game: stalker
    Resolution: c90 native
    all setting max
    oc mode
edit -> used rivatuner... on thing though i not sure how reliable it is since it posts that i have a 8600gt 512mb "ddr3"

    Idle: 70-74
    Gaming: 80-85

The first few days I had it while gaming the temps were 90-94, but then after it seemed to cool down.

Well last update for me same game as before after about an hour, suddenly the fps went down intantly so I had to quit. Rivatuner show temps to be steady 90c till the sudden fps drop then drop down to 84. Hope the whole semicrash is one time thing though.

Edit -> forgot to mention i was using a lapcooler

    Quick update...

I noticed the GPU fan and the CPU fans always kick on together/never independently regardless of the GPU temp/CPU temp. Has anyone else noticed this? Or seen their GPU kick in by itself? I think it is the GPU but cannot be sure as the fans not working independently seems odd as well.

Regardless I'm sending my C90 back to Gentech for repair, it's back to the Macbook for me! Hopefully we'll have a BIOS update by the time I get mine back :)

I'm getting 90 to 92 while running 3d mark. (During grpahic test 2).

I think the same thing about the fans which why I post the following question in another thread:

If asus testes the c90 with old revision conroes which get hot faster, and tied the cpu temps to the fans kicking in (via turbogear most likely) then people with new revision conroes that are cooler will have overheating because fans aren kicking in as expected (as in the cpu is cool but the gpu is burning hot, since the fans are tied top cpu temps then they don't kick in till system is already unstable due to heat)

Don't really have anything to back it up except for the fatc that asus test the systme on old version conroes that is confirmed. Btw has anyone that installed the new turbogear version notice that fans kick in more frequently??? Cause that sort of gave me the idea.

-.- well thats just dumb then...i really would expect more than that from asus. I think i'm just going to pass on the c90, it looks great but in my line of work i can't afford to use a unstable laptop.

Thats kind of what I was trying to explane to people when they are wanting to compare temps. You can not really accuratly compare temps on this machine because the fans.

At idle my cpu ran hotter than it did at load because at idle the fans were nearly off and at load they were going full blast. The cpu was obviously producing much more heat at load but the cooling was kicked in so the actual temps were lower at load.

The gpu will work the same way. So depending on what triggers the fans, you gpu may be much cooler than the other persons.

One person says they dont work independantly but are both triggered by the cpu... I dont know for sure. I know when I run 3dmark and feel the air come out the back, the cpu is pushing more air out of its fans than the gpu is, wich leads me to think they have independant speeds, but maybe they are both triggered by the cpu temps. Seems illogical but it could be true.

I noticed in overclock or game mode the fans are MUCH more prone to kick in. Even a small load would put my e6700 fans on in game mode, while normal mode would leave them nearly silent even under a heavy load until it would be under load for a long time.

Hey all, I was wondering if some of you guys that are getting really high GPU temps could put the CPU that you are using.

for me, in a room that is about 70 deg F and on a hard surface, I have a GPU temp of 80 C at Idle (no programs running except rivatuner) and 98-104 C under gaming (just the game and rivatuner). The games I am playing during this are Titan quest immortal throne or C&C3. I have the new 164.33 (?)(bioshock fix) drivers from Ken @ Gentech. Both games are at low-medium settings and resolutions on 1400-900 widescreen (or that equivilent if not exact, basically NOT max res).

I am more than a little worried about this, but Ken has mentioned that this may be due to the fans going off the CPU temp, not the GPU. Since I only have the 2.13ghz CPU maybe that is why my GPU gets so hot? I can kind of agree with the reasoning there, but under gaming I would suspect that the CPU gets hot enough to kick in the fans and would in essence cool the GPU.

I have read that some people have temps close to this. Some have RMA'd and got new GFX cards and have much lower temps now. With so much speculation and nothing concrete, is there any way to see if my card warrants a change without buying a new card myself and changing it out (thus being out the $200 for the card)? I am stationed in Iraq right now (Army) so an RMA (If I was even given one by Gentech) would have a turnaround of over a month. I would like to be sure I have an issue so I don't get charged for something that is not wrong and am without a computer for 1 month plus with school etc going on.

Lastly, I have not had any crashes to my system to date. I do NOT OC my laptop. I actually uninstalled Turbogear. I have the 702 bios that Gentech installed. After playing both games for a while I so get some "catching" where the game slows down and then plays catch up for a second, but I don't know if that is the heat causing that, or just that this card sucks. I guess I need to go to extreme low settings to see if that still happens.

Well, thanks for any input you guys can give.

    Kevin
