My C90 was a really hot computer, and I dont mean that sexually. The temps were outrageous on it.

Stock I would hit around 90c idle on my gpu and over 100c load.
The cpu would get very high numbers too.

    First Mod:

Reinstall heatsinks with use of aftermarket thermal compound. Replacing the stock TIM with artic silver 5 droped temps by about 3c for both cpu and gpu. I later replaced the AS5 on the cpu with a metal pad from coolabatory and got an additional 2c drop.

Things were still too hot tho (the cpu was down to around 65c I can live with that but the gpu was in mid 80's idle and high 90's load.

So I did the vent mod that you can find the link to in my signature. This resulted in a huge drop in temps. About 10c for the gpu and 3c for the cpu average for both idle and load.

I figured the mod was only marginally effective despite the huge drop in temps because there is NO airflow thru the c90 those little fans pull air thru the turbo engine but not the inside of the case. So I figured even a small amount of air being introduced to the system would help alot, I was very correct.

The Zalmans is known as one of the most silent coolers, infact I cant hear it. It has a very small airflow and thats why for some people it doesn't help much with temps but with the mods in place look what happened for idle temps.

Things are nice and cool now, comparible to a well cooled desktop machine.

About to do a 3dmark06 run now to see what max temps are under load will post back shortly.

I'm drawing up plans for a cooling system of my own involving a small case fan and the whatnot so I'm very curious to see some pics both of the outside of the unit and the internals. I really want to see how you wired up the fan because I'm very nervous about that part. Not just where you plugged it in but how you handled the wireing cause I don't want a wire melting on a part.

He's using a cooling pad. You jut put it under the computer after making some holes in the cover.

Yes but I believe that for the above I was running in power saving mode, don't really need all the juice for web browsing and email you know. Although most temps were similar I think the GPU was the most affected.

Awesome work Vicious! I'll be copying this very soon and hopefully finding a way to integrate an ultra slim fan into the access panel somehow.

I actually need to report back with even lower temps :p

The above when was when I first got the cooler and just put the laptop on there without taking the time to find the optimal position for it.

The zalmans has the holes for the air near the bottom, but the c90s gpu is near the top. So maybe only 1/5th of my mod was getting air.

Now moving the notebook down lower I have in OVERCLOCKING mode about 2c lower than before.

The cpu is down really low the gpu is still up there tho its a really hot card.

The cpu is down to 40c in power save and 44 in overclock.
