Hi I bought my laptop (C90S) from gentech. All was going well I tracked it every day. On the delivery day I came homefrom work no laptop. Some old lady in my building signed for it and she said the ups guy went up stairs with the package to my door. By the time I got home it was gone!!!!!! I was wondering why ups gave my package to someone other than me ? so now I have to wait while ups investigates. any one go thru this already and have any clue how long it will take.

I would say you're looking at 1 month if you're lucky. UPS is not supposed to accept signatures from anyone but the addressee, but a LOT of deliverymen just don't care, unfortunately, and they'd rather just drop it than deal with rescheduling delivery.

We've had delivery problems at our (24/7) office, actually. We're at the top of a staircase, so that's a strike against us in some deliverymen's eyes. UPS tends to be the most reliable in our area, but we've had UPS mark a package as "attempted to deliver" when they never came near the place, and we also had one delivery company where the driver sat in the parking lot for several minutes staring at the stairs until one of our techs drove up, at which point he asked if the tech was going upstairs and handed him the package he was supposed to be delivering.

It really sucks that you've got to go through UPS's theft investigation, though. Here's hoping they go faster with you than they did when they lost my processor!

Oh man, sorry to hear that bud.

Yeah, dang UPS. It's likely you'll get a positive outcome after the investigation, as GenTech likely insured the package, but as stated by thain, it is highly probable that the process will be long and arduous. I am deeply sorry!

This reminds me of a time I ordered a Fujitsu laptop for my brother last Christmas 2006 from Amazon. The UPS guy, jackass that he/she was/is, took a sig capture from my 93 year-old retired neighbor (not only the wrong address, but caucasian at that, and my name is very very obviously asian) and then after realizing it was the wrong house, proceeded to put the laptop underneath my front door welcome mat. It was ludicrous. I came home and *fortunately* walked up to a faux grass shoe mat on top of a big cardboard box that had "Fujitsu Portable Computer" printed all over it. Ridiculous, but lucky.

    Sorry again. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick replys. It is less stressful to know that im not gonna get screwed. I had no idea how ups handles thier claims one month is not bad. It just burns to know someone is out there using MY laptop. And yes gentech declared the total value. *Thank God*
now we play the waiting game

You may also want to check around ebay and craigslist to see if anyone is selling a c90s in your area.

lol, Craigslist is a good bet.

I ordered a 400GB HDD from Fry's, DHL signature required. I tracked the day of delivery because I knew I wouldn't be home till after it should be delivered and found to my suprise it had been delivered. I go home, no package. I check the site to see who signed for it, "LFD" or something along those lines which means "left at front door". After an investigation I got a second one sent out...I bought a 8800GTX for my desktop, signature required. Come home and find a huge box (DELL written all over it) sitting on my front door mat. And I've had 2 Toshiba Notebooks left outside the door, also big Toshiba P105 Gaming Notebook on the box. These were the big things that made my hair stand on end, smaller stuffs always left inside screen door (CPU, RAM and Games).

I spoke with ken from gentech and he told me the old lady has to pay for the laptop since she signed for it. I am 90% sure she did not take it.
Do you know if this will hault the process till she pays? man i hope not that lady is broke.

Didn't UPS not follow instructions and not get the addressee's signature? Looks to me to be a UPS problem.

It's under investigation, we put a trace on the package already, UPS will retrieve the package from whoever sign for it.

In my view, logically (but logic is only remotely connected to laws and regulations, as I'm sure you all know) the delivery person is responsible and the UPS should handle the situation... Not the old lady... maybe she didn't see well, she couldn't make out the name on the form, and thought someone sent her a present -- so what...

I just got my C90s about a week ago, it had to be sent to my moms boyfriends house where she lives since it was paid for by her credit card. Anyways the adress is under gene fenton my mom is colleen keyes and im zach and i dont live with there. Sooo they try delivering it on tuesday nobody is there, they try again wednesday nobody is there, but i drove over and waited in my car for them to come. They come i get out of my car and walk up to them before they even get the package out of the truck i say hey thats for me, they say colleen keyes, i say yes, they hand me it i sign my own signature and take the package to my car and drive off. Wouldnt you be suspicous I mean come on im some random guy who just got out of his car, i obviously dont live there, why would you give me the package. I thought it was hilarious that they didnt ask for ID or anything. Anyways I just wanted to tell my story since its obvious that delivery men just dont give a ****. Sorry you are gonna have to wait so long i would be pretty pissed.

I had some UPS fun too, but not such a high dollar item. I had them drop a package off. Only the package was open along the way some place ... it was empty.

Lost the USB readyboost 4gb stick. I dealt with Newegg, so I had not problems. But pretty weird that UPS would drop off a damaged box.

LMAO! That would be like a whole new sector of crime. You make a gang of people who track UPS trucks and follow them and sign for it. You rotate and all that.

Sorry about your c90, I'm sure it will be taken care of somehow but I guess its not a matter of how but when.

Everyone says they don't care. I agree that SOME don't care, but I think a lot of them bend the rules to do you a favor. I really dislike when they just leave it, especially in an apartment complex if I haven't given them permission to. I feel their intentions are a lot better than you're giving them credit for. They know how much of a pain it is to try to make a package delivery, etc. I'm not saying one way or the other, just to think about it.

Wat they should do is, when you buy something that requires UPS signing, UPS should require the companies to ask you for an additional 2-3 names who you can put that can also sign for the name. If they are not you or those people they won't deliver the package.

I agree. That is how Walmart Site to Store works, you can add authorized people. They have to have ID and the confirmation email.

Ha! Then there's the certified FedX special handling for precious CPUs.

Luckily the cpu was safe due to intel's proper packaging.

Oh and it was wet when it arrived, extra special service for that...

That really sucks man. I just moved to a new apartment complex so I have been having a lot of stuff delivered lately, and I'm always worried the box will be gone off my porch when I get home...

Don't know what I'll do the next time I buy a PC. 4 years of college where my packages were nice and safe behind the post office counter waiting for me really spoiled me.

I haven't tried this but I heard that the C90s can melt the box it's in, grow legs, and walk to its owner. Can anyone confirm this?

Mine turned out to be Rumble (akin to Frenzy) and ended up killing some people, we found out our goal were similar and are now getting along just fine.

That's great news! Some suggestions for you. If you live in an apartment complex, you could put a note on your door for the delivery guy to leave it at the apartment office if noone answers the door, and make it very clear not to leave the package outside. Or you could put another note that says you will pick up the package directly from the carrier's office.

I had a few packages left outside my door before, and it really pissed me off. Luckily, those weren't as expensive as your laptop. I got a package today and the UPS guy dropped it off at the office. Sometimes they do it without asking, sometimes you just need to guide them.
