Eh I was mistaken apparently the 165s are not new. I was still able to get near 3900 with them. More research is needed to be done!!

Also for you COH fans, Company of heroes was able to get a "good" rating from the built in test with all settings maxed out at 1280X1024 on the new vista 163.11 driver with cpu overclocked and gpu at stock (wont allow you to overclock with this driver) and got an average fps of 37. The CPU overclock (I have an e6600) brought up the average to 40 fps but affected the minimum fps. I believe the overclock brought the minimum from 10 area to 20. ( SMALL Ballpark estimates as I have said I am very busy so I could not spend as much time to get detailed reports.)

i'm glad about the 3Dmark score, and the FPS you got on max settings. Looks like the C90 is living up to expectations after all. (eat your hearts out G1s owners)

the 165.01 drivers are NOT new...they actually came out even before the 150 series drivers. Why you ask? because nvidia has no idea what they are doing with driver names. These drivers are notorious for being the most incompatible drivers around and mess up many games. do a google search. BEWARE OF THESE DRIVERS! please edit appropriately

Yeah, they were rumored to be drivers that were thrown out quickly to show speed gains in vista for a showing of nvidia cards. Also, notice the size differenece between the 165.01 driver package and all the others on laptopvideo2go.com.....exactly.

Aww crap, that explains the Direct3D errors and FEAR crashing. Thanks for the heads up.

Another GPU overclock update...last night I was running Supreme Commander at 1024 with everything on high settings except shading which was at medium with anti-aliasing off. CPU was set to 20% overclock in Turbogear. GPU was set to 500/500. Ran fine for about 20 minutes, so I decided to give anti-aliasing a try. When I set it to 2x, after about 10 minutes I started getting some pretty heavy artifact lines.

After this I re-booted. Set CPU to 20% again and tried a 500/475 overclock. Ran it on the same settings as above but with AA down to 0 again for over an hour with no problems. So I think I'm going to stick with 500/475.

My update is the 163.11 gives me the most stable results. 158.45 even has problems with a minimal overclock in COH of heroes and even when it does run overclocked it performs worse then the 163.11 driver. (Screw you 3dmark). But yeah fullu overclocked my 3dmark score on the 158.45 was 3897.

I will stick with the newest vista driver for now. When the overclock has worked it didn't allow me to raise the settings much higher if it all more then the 163.11. They had both equal performance in terms of visually what I could see and even with the overclock the 158.45 performed badly in COH (with no visible artifacts). Perhaps the 163 driver is really that good.

I have both the C90s and the G1s, I would like to see some screens of your
3Dmark scores, with your freq monitor open or something, were you using the default @1280x1020, Which isnt even close to the 4300 score of an overclocked G1s @1280x1024 or stock 3800, so please either post some screens or stop embarrassing us C90s owners.

We all know that the G1 has a ddr3 card which is a good amount faster then the c90s gddr2. Not embarassing us don't know where you have been but this has been established for a while now. My c90 is still a beast and 3dmark is on crack right now for me anyways as you will see once you read my previous post. My 3dmark06 score is great on the 158 driver but it performs badly in game.

I just ran 3D Mark 06 with the 163.11 drivers and got 3899 at stocks speeds at 1280X1024. That is a little lower than the score from the 165.1 drivers(3927), but since switching I notice much less game errors and crashing.

I as well just reloaded my G1s with the 163.11 drivers, my scores were about the same 165.11=3847, 163.11=3827 @stock speeds. I haven't tested in game, but I will tonight. Previously RB6vegas has been glitchy, I'm excited to see if they fixed it

    * I am yet to get my C90 above 3700 :(

-Forerunner, I am aware that my G1s has GDDR3, and the C90s Has ddr2, My point was lack of screens to back-up your 3900 score at 1280x1024. I have pushed mine pretty hard and still hover around 3690's. However I watch my temp, as to keep it stable. That is all

Yeah sorry if that came off as rude. Just frustrated with the huge pile of schoolwork and I really cant enjoy anything else most importantly my girlfriend then my c90. I barely have any freetime so I am trying to get this all sorted out so I'm a bit agitated sorry about that. I will try to get to screens and stuff but am trying to enjoy my c90 also. Maybe this weekend will have some free time.

please tell us your exact settings you used to acheieve this score. Overclocked cpu/gpu? 32 bit/64 bit? I know you used 158.45 but what drivers did you use for everything else? 2gb ram or 3gb ram?

So everybody is talking about oc'ing the gpu to run games at high settings. would this mean that i will be able to run games at medium settings with the gpu at stock settings???

(I dont really care about having the most incredible grapichs but rather want to be able to enjoy games with decent fps)

Well my cpu got stock over 3100 with no overclock on gpu or cpu. Like I said I am very busy right now and am barely have time to run tests. My c90 stats:
e6600, 160gb seagate momentus 5400 rpm, 2 gb ram, 32bit vista home premium.

Its nearing the end of the summer semester and my work is piling up and have a good amount of tests coming up. Like I said 3dmark meant nothing because like you said swoley the 165 driver is bad and coh and supcom crashes fairly quickly. Even the 158.45 got poor results in the COH performance test as well as in game. My c90 on stock gpu and cpu with 163 gets about 3450.

I can run pretty much any game on high settings with zero GPU overclock, the FPS just isn't as good. But it's not noticeably slow, or anything.
