Hey. I'm looking into buying an Asus C90 laptop and was wondering what exactly comes with it and what do I have to buy?
I've built many desktops before but never a laptop...with the Asus, I'm toally confused on what to buy.
From my understanding, you at least need to buy the CPU, Memory, video card, hard drive, and WLAN right?
Here what I'm looking for in a laptop currently.
at least 2.2 GHZ (4 MB cache), 2 GB mem, 7200 SATA 300 hard drive 120 GB, 8600 GT DDR3, and wireless with n support
So ya please help me...what do i need to buy?? lol

That's that.
I would go for a 160GB or 250GB HDD 5400 versus a 7200 120GB but it's your choice....
The wireeless cards at the intel 3945 and 4945.
CPU, stick with E4500 or E6600 IMO. They are the only one that won't seem to be a rip-off compared to the last-gen (1333 fsb) C2D. E4500 being half the price of the E6600 already. The E4300/4400 have a pretty low thermal design compared to E4500 (62 VS 73C)
Memory, go with super talent if possible.
EDIT: Oh damn, they released the E4600 >-<. It's cheaper than what I paid my 4500 2 months ago. The E4600 in OC mode (if you can make it work under OC and not only under gaming) will be at 2.9GhZ, and at this speed I'm pretty sure it would beat the 2x more expensive (and hotter)E6600 -
So you can't use the 1333 c2duos? I currently own an E6750 in my desktop (oc-ed to 3.2). Would that be possible?
So the C90 comes with a dvd burner, screen, but doens't come with wireless? -
No the 1333fsb won't work on the C90s.
The c90s comes with a standard dvd burner, but you have the option to upgrade to a blu-ray or hddvd drive. It usually doesn't come with a wireless adapter when purchased as a barebone, but any asus reseller will sell them. -
Sweet. So what's the best reseller out there?
It seems that the 8600M DDR3 is out of stock everywhere I look -
1toppc.com if you are in the US.
If you're in Canada, you can order from them if you want to take a risk with duties & taxes (base price for the notebook alon is $150 in the US so it makes a difference in the end), if not, directcanada.com / ncix.com has nice price (directcanada is owned by ncix, dc a less good customer support but better price than ncix). -
US here....i looked at 1toppc.com but btotech has better prices rite now
-
You sure? I just looked and it's exactly the same price, except 1toppc has cheaper RAM

Both 1toppc (gentech [based in CA]) and btotech (based in NY) are probably the best Asus resellers in the US. I actually purchased 4 Asus notebooks from gentech in the past 6 months and can vouch for them. They provide superb service and each time I contacted them they replied swiftly with "to the point" answers.
