When I play games where the cpu also does some work all works fine, can play with OC mode all the time no problem.
but I have a problem with the cooling of my C90. The cooler only kicks in when my CPU is under load resulting in high gpu temps @some games where my cpu does nearly nothing even @stock clocks.

I got the latest bios but it changed nothing.
I also took a look @the bios of the gpu and there are no settings for coolers except for critical treshold (maybe the gpu bios borked? some could plz give me his bios for the 8600 512 ddr2?)
Is there a way to influence the coolers somehow except playing @overclocked mode all the time to push the cpu temps up?

    *edit*
actually the gpu cooler is working but the cpu coolers also help the gpu alot.

No all of the fans are CPU temp dependent.

Poke (search) around the threads, there are many posts about GPU temps & Bios revs.
