The camera built into the C90 is obviously supposed to be able to move to some degree, but does anybody know the specifics on how limited its range of motion is supposed to be?

It tilts a few degrees up and down pretty easy, but what I wanted to do was turn it 180 degree's so I can film somthing facing me while on my notebook. I had the idea while I was in the hospital with my wife and newborn son. I wanted to make a video of them for keep's sake.

It would be good for other stuff too, but I am afraid to try it before I know it can be done. I managed to get it 90degree's so that it was pointing directly upward but trying to go further it felt like a sping was giving me resistance.

The microphones near it, but it only works if the fans are almost off.

An external mic is probably the answer, a cheap one from walmart should do the job for less than 3$

If its the same as the other models, then it probably moves 240 degrees total, it can rotate 180 degrees counter clockwise like shown in the picture and 60 degrees clockwise (when you felt the resistance).
