    Hello again guys, my CD/DVD writer has decided not to read any discs. The yellow light on the drive blinks different amounts of times(random?) then stops. My drive is a Mat****a UJ-850S, the original one that came with the laptop. I've googled different solutions for the problem and I get this:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
    4. On the File menu, click Export.
    5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.
    6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on
    the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    Note If this data type is missing, go to Method 2.
    7. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters, and then click Delete on
    the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    8. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

    However, as you can see, I don't have UpperFilters OR LowerFilters in that registry key. What can I do to fix this?

    If your missing a key you create it, but you shouldn't have to be doing all the reg editing.

    If I recall that fix is for a totally different kind of problem because I have seen it before.

    The point of having those keys is to delete them and restart your computer. Supposedly that was supposed to fix the problem :confused:

    Got any ideas?

    Your DVD/CD is 'blind'. It means hardware failure.
    You need new one
