Hey Guys,
I ask this because I'm basically in love with my C90S despite it not being the best laptop out there. I'm willing to make a site dedicated the C90S, random guides for this that, mods to this and that, latest drivers, news, fixes for this and that, and whatever else you guys can think of. I've got a webserver going to waste that I for some reason pay for every month still so I figure why not? I've got a couple mods coming up for my C90S...I've already passively cooled the RAM on my 8600m GT DDR2 that I would like to make a guide for. So, let me know and if I can get enough interest it will be like a motivation![]()

We have one, its called the Asus Section of Notebookreview.com
Most of the threads here are c90 threads I think and all the info is here, just requires a search sometimes. Now you need to post your mod for your ram in my mod thread located in my sig.

I want a c90s website
-
I'd go for a well organized site with all the most important information in an easily viewable format. I don't mind searching these threads but a website would definitely be helpful.
-
I concur, a dedicated c90 site would be awesome
-
i´d highly appreciate that
-
and it might make ASUS love us more = more parts
so im for it haha -
And I completely understand that. I have no intention at all of trying to steal or take traffic away from this site. I would just like to have a site/community dedicated to the C90S, News, Drivers, Guides, Modifications and such forth all in one convenient place. I'm currently un-employed due to a dispute at work and I'm taking a break from that, don't need such an unnecessary amount of stress in my life. SO, I have all the time in the world to make this happen at the moment.
Thanks for all the replies though, great motivation to get this underway. Now to think of a domain name....c90resource, c90sresource.net....something rather. It's about 7.20PM, me and my gf are going to go sledding at the golf course across town hehe. -
Make the name more scalable for newer asus barebone laptops to come. Not just stuck to the first iteration. ASUSBBL.com(BareBoneLaptop).
my two cents -
I would like to see a more comprehensive site dedicated to the c90s and newer ones to come. There is tons of great info in these boards, but searching through it is time consuming and can be more confusing such as the 3GB memory inconsistency's. Still haven't found an answer for that one
-
I agree completely.
-
Also would be interested. With all the fanfare and the trouble the C90S has caused it would be helpful.

I think it'd be nice, but what's to prevent it from becoming overloaded with repeat questions and or seriously off thread postings?
I myself had become quite frustrated with seeing the same question asked over and over again, especially when it had been covered several times in detail.
It would probably have to be heavily moderated like over at tweakguides to maintain a high and clear standard. -
Sgt. Hollywood,
I was thinking it was going to be just a website, not a forum. That way it would only get cluttered if the webmaster didn't keep everything organized and easily reachable.
Maybe Ziggo had a different idea though??? -
I would totally agree with that idea, and base pretty much information copied from here(rewritten) and linked so that the main source would be nonetheless from NBR for feedback or discussion purposes. I would like to see a blog with some commenting but not a full blown forum.
-
Agreed x3 : )

The problem is that you have been around these boards for a while so you have been around for more of the topics that have been raised and addressed. Whereas, I'm new and just got my c90s. This makes it hard for me to search through the posts to find answers to questions when they have been hit and miss answers. Even if the site had a forum that was dedicated to the c90s, it would be better then the mix of all asus laptops as there are many.

I have to say that I totally disagree with your reasoning. The problem is that too many people want someone to give them the answer as quickly as possible with the least amount of expended effort on their behalf.
This isn't the MacBook service call center.
Most of the questions have been answered and for those that haven't it is most likely that they are those questions not easily answered, and most likely that there is not one definitive answer for that question; ie why can I run 2gb + 1GB of corsair when other do not? We don't know..
Just look to see how many questions have been asked again and again that had been answered in Vicious "problems/fixes" post.
Mind you this is not exclusive the NBR but symptomatic of many help/tweak forums.
But a C90 site would still be nice, with some policing...
-
Sgt. Hollywood,
I understand where you are coming from, believe me I do. Most people, quite honestly, just don't care enough to take the time and do a search.
They join, and then without even looking at the stickies, start asking questions that could have been found in an faq or with a simple search.
But, at the same time, this is the beauty of a C90S website! If I understand Ziggo right, he plans on making a website where all of us can go to gather categorized and neatly organized information without having to deal with a forum. I could be wrong though.
I'm not trying to bash these forums at all, I love them. But I think it would be a great idea to have a C90 website for those of us that don't want to deal with a forum.
It can't hurt anyway. -

@NightWalker
No I totally agree with what you said, and the idea of conciseness.
Just think though, if people would had searched and did a little sifting, there would not be so much clutter to begin with.
OH and I can't believe the access panel mod is being called a "Vicious Mod"
Esp when it was spoken of smugly..hah ha

I call it the "Vicious Mod" because I followed his post to the T basically. Something tells me without visualizing how and where to place the holes, I would of ended up with a nice swiss cheese ACE door lol.
Off topic:
I need to see if Ken will sell me a spare ACE door because it looks like I might have to RMA my C90S to get gaming mode working : / -
Ah, I see this thread has gotten quite a bit of interest! That makes me happy
I feel the same way. What is to prevent it from being overloaded with the same questions over and over again that you always run into? Well. I would be more than willing to spend a decent amount of time scanning over forums and helping direct people. One thing I've learned about communities is they start small. Granted it will have a nice boost from all of us here, but that is where its like a double bonus. We would have people who would be experienced with the laptop and its issues, and the people who neglect an easily navigateable site that has Guides and Information posted left and right would be directed towards the information with the topic being closed. A forum was part of my original idea, however, depending how it could or could not play out may or may not be a bad idea hehe.
That my friend was a decent portion of the idea that hit me in the shower that morning. The forum would be more of a bonus I suppose. One thing about myself is I'm sort of a neat freak // organization freak. The site I have in mind would be simple, look good but not to flashy, sleek and easily navigateable.
That is a good idea as well.
Yep yep, you must've taken a good shower this morning haha. For some reason I come up with good ideas in the shower...lol. I know a lot of people here have become irritated with the same questions coming up over and over again about simplest of things. Hell, their new topic is only 3 or 4 topics down from the stickied topic that has the answer to their question and life its self. However, I come from a forum that is used to this. Not so much used to it as its our way I guess to help every new member as much as possible. I've been there for 4 years, watched it changed, people come and people go, but at the same time every new person asking that same damn question gets a nice welcoming and appointed maybe not directly, but to an area that would set them underway.
C90S Users - Would you like a website dedicated to the C90S?
