Hi all, im having a problem with my C90, when i unplug the AC plug the wireless seems to stop working.
Any one have this problem?
Any ways to resolve this?
I have Corsair 2x1GB ram.
(Mentioned the ram due to incompatibility issues with the C90S and ram)
Thanks.

umm i have that exact same problem and ram... coincidence?
and does your wireless or sound sometimes not work when coming back from sleep mode?
what OS are you using? -

Im on Linux on the c90 and wireless works flawlessly, so I think the problem def has to do with vista and the bios, like when I am in windows (i dual-boot) when I go to power-savings mode, still plugged in, wireless stops. So im pretty certain that a bios upgrade in the future should fix this. The only thing is that some people claim to have it working perfect in windows too....so i don't know.

Looks like either BIOS or ACPI drivers. Yet another C90 bug...

Phew thought it was just me -

ya its annoying as hell, i was thinking it was just vista but if it is happening for XP thats not good...

I have the EXACT same problem with my C90S running Vista Home Premium 64 Bit Edition!! This is extremely annoying! When the heck is Asus going to release a new bios update that fixes some of these major problems?

Mine doesn't do that are you sure it isn't a power setting that tells windows to shut off the wireless to conserve power.
-
my dads laptop doesnt do that when he disconnects from the internet and im actually running on battery right now at school
its just when you unplug from the wall... which is retarded because the C90 doesnt like to hold the AC adapter in, mine comes out alot
i would say it is RAM incompatibly? unless someone who doesnt have Corsair Ram is having these problems as well. -
This is actually a known issue and it ties with the Intel drivers or hardware issues, and has nothing to do with the C90s or ram. For some reason, when you unplug the wireless card switches to battery mode and what causes the connection drop is that the intel card sends a crash signal to the router. Therefore, killing any network connection that's established. This is a combination or either driver issue, operating system or router(that's vulnerable to the signal).
Intel has still not addressed this issue officially, and this problem still exists in all their newer cards as well like the 4965N in the c90s, with the wrong combination of drivers, os, router etc; mentioned above.

As for a solution, use the native Asus driver as I've had no issues with my wrt54G(using Hyperwrt). Perhaps updating the router firmware would fix the issue on the other end. -
i just installed ubuntu on my system and tried to install the wireless card using madwifi driver. but it is not working at all... i know that is very little information but could anyone give a short tutorial how to install wireless on ubuntu with c90s
in the ubuntu 7.10 device manager it says ar5418 wireless pci adapter
even if i type modprobe ath_pci there will be no wirless cards in iwconfig
