    I just ordered a C90S barebones from ExcaliberPC (incl. 512mb 8600, and a N wireless card)

Also ordered a 200gb HDD, 2x 2gb of G.Skill, and some AS5 paste off newegg (along with a few sleeves and a BT mouse [msft ..8000.. presenter])

Lastly I ordered an C2D E8400 off of ebay (only place where it's in stock! lol)

    Total price of 1557 shipped.

    Did I do well?

as a sidenote I plan to eventually upgrade to a geforce 9xxxM whenever it comes out...

And won't post with more unless you use the newest BIOS. You could stick in just one stick, flash it and then install the second, but you'll only use about 3GB of it.

Yeah, I noticed that... the price difference between a 1gb and 2gb stick is less that what it would cost for me to "downgrade" (shipping both ways for return/exchange), so I'll just do the reflash.

    Aside from that, any opinions?

Perhaps some comment on how the wolfdale would run inside a laptop? I'm a little worried about overheating (esp. if I should upgrade the video card in the future)

The e8400 will not work with the C90! The highest are the x6800, e6700 and e6600.

Sorry I didn't see it earlies, trying to fix something on my C90S right now :D

Is this officially confirmed? that it does not support Wolfdale cores?

    What about a Q6600?

    Wolfdale cpu's use a 1333Mhz FSB which isn't supported by the C90S's 945G chipset.

I've seen some resellers offering the laptop with a Q6600 but I don't know if
they are using a modded BIOS or if these Quad Core offerings were even real.

Theoretically the Q6600 should work because it is supported by the chipset
but I still wouldn't recommend it because it is really pushing the C90S's
thermal envelope and overheating in cpu intensive apps is very likely.

gotcha... Anyways, I just ordered a e6700 off of newegg.. Kind of unfortunate that the 8400 won't run on it...

Any possibility of upgrading the mainboard to something more powerful?
