Seems like the issues keep piling up with the machine.
My camera stopped working after only three days of use. Thank was 4 months ago.
Just upgraded to the latest drivers and AMCap and Genesys software/driver package and this thing still will not start. I just get a black screen.

    Anyone experience this?

It there anyone that has found a solution?

    TIA

you mean start working that you get a black screen when you turn it on? or you dont get anything at all??? if is the famous black screen it is just your video drivers that you need to reinstalled and not the camera itself....

    regards,

    RG

    Thanks much for your response.

The black screen happened immediately. I don’t get anything at all.

The card I am running is the NVidia 8600 GT 512. How do I upgrade the drivers to the latest ones (drivers compatible with the C90S)?

I run a lot of demanding software and the graphics seem to run surprisingly fine. Does it still mean that it can still be an issue?

    Thanks..just a bit frustrated

balck screen = video drivers so go to laptopvideotogo and get the modded version nvidia driver 167.48. It should work. Take into account that eventhough it works, any updates on codecs and other stuff for video enhancing could go and screew up again your video driver config so if that is the case just desinstalled and reinstal the video drivers again to get it back working...it should be really nice to put one thread of problems and solutions for the c90s but people just care to express their knowledge how they installed their driver for their c90s forgetting about than even a different brand RAM memory could give different results using the same installation guide so I dont bother to follow those rather just my own experience with what I got...

Thanks for all your responses. I’m running Vista Home Premium.
Somtimes the blue light will lcome on at computer start and not turn off (still black screen) and sometimes the light will not even come on.

I should say that I do have the AverMedia Tuner card and that ALWAYS works well!

I went to that site and it’s like ‘WOW..made for real techies’. I’ll look for the 167.48 (only found up to the 167.45 under Vista).

I have the black screen on my XP boot, I get no preview, however if I record or take a screen shot it still works 100% so depending on what your trying to do if a preview is not needed you can see if it will still record.

In the past one person actually had a hardware level failure on his camera and had to send it back to get replaced, while the possibility of something like that is very slim its not impossible so after you play around with your drivers and things abit more remember thats your fallback option.

169 still have some issues, read the forum for laptopvideo2go but again Im running XP so maybe they work better on vista version. On the other hand 167.49 works well on vista from what I heard in this forum

167.48 or 167.49? Now I'm confused. Either way, can you please send me a link to that driver of the site? It proved a bit too complicated for a ‘genius’ like me to navigate.

    Thanks again

Ok..found and d'loaded 167.49. Just need to know two things.

    1. Is this newer and more recent than 167.48 (for Asus C90S)?
    2. Do I need to uninstall the current drivers and if so how do I do that?

    Thanks much!

    1. Dunno, but the 169 are the lastest one. I don't remember if it was 165 or 167, but one is before 158.

    2. No

Hey JCMS, you asked me before about the light. I checked it and the blue light will come on just before windows load and stay on until just before windowd completes loading. Then it will go off and the camera will remain unfunctional.

Thank for you help. I'll try to ge the latest 169.xx drivers from the site.

Not quite right and yes, you should unisntall old drivers... sometimes old video drivers would get in the way by some reason. It happened to me with he black screen as well where even though I have updated for new driver I was still getting it plus sometimes the stupid blue screen. The problem was solved by erasing old drivers before installing new ones. Again Im talking with my XP OS, I dont know how VISTA manage drivers updates...

Installed 167.49 then reinstalled the latest AMPcap on the ASUS site. Camera worked until a restart.
Back to the same issue. (at least we know it's not a hardware failure).

With this issue and the memory battery issue (I can only run on AC power until I get special memory...3GB!!), I can't honesty say I am happy with my C90.

Granted it performs like a champ but I have a 10 year old Compaq Presario laptop that doesn’t even give problems.

    Thanks for all your help

That would be the 169.28 for Vista 32 for me right?

    I'll try those later.

Also, can you confirm how you ensure a complete uninstall of previous drivers (best steps for uninstall)?

    Thanks again!
