Hello, Ive had my c90s for two weeks or so now, and Ive come across some problems.

    1) after i run a game for a while, the gpu heats up really hot to 90-93C, monitored using ntune and rivatuner

    2) when running off battery, my wifi randomly crashes and wont start up again until after i reboot.

    3) does the 163.11 driver from laptopvideo2go install properly with the moded inf file they supply? the installation seems to hang

    1. what game? No game ive played has gotten it that high though.

    2. talk to alexonfyre about that

    3. yes gets to halfway through the progress bar and then takes a while to finish. but it always does. but really you should use the 162.22 since they are whql now and better than the 163

I could if the cpu was getting hotter then it may warm the ambient temperature and make the gpu run hotter but....it would only be if the cpu was REALLY overheating. My cpu gets up to 79C and my gpu still stays at 80C even with the gpu at 555 core, and 595 mem....

Now that you mention it, during my latest 3dmark run mine went up to 93C but only between two test. It may be normal

i just noticed something and wondering if someone else could try also.

im hooked up to my 50" plasma right now (panasonic th-50px60u) and its connected via hdmi - and then digital output from the TV to an Onkyo HT-S790 7 speaker system, so digital sound is going through the receiver

im watching knocked up on the tv (through the computer) and noticed whenever i switched to "game mode", the sound, atleast digital sound going through the hdmi, no longer works, when i switch back to standard or power save mode, works just fine.

i havent looked too much into but was wondering just what someone thought the reason would be?

also i am still unable to freely switch from digital output/laptop speakers by just switching which is default. i have to restart or log off for it to actually switch to something else. I can even disable BOTH speakers and digital output while using one and it does nothing (not mute but actual disable) - sound still comes through fine, until i restart. I can switch to digital mode into my receiever, restart then it works, pull out the hdmi and disable digital and then put laptop speakers as default - and no sound comes out of the speakrs until i restart - but sound will still work if i plug the hdmi back in, even with the digital output disabled - all until i restart

A similar thing happened to me too when I'm watching HDTV but with the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950 TV Tuner. Sound only works on standard mode.
Not a big problem for me, but I'm also curious as to why that is...

I guess this is as good a place as any to throw in my 2 cents. I've been watching this forum for awhile and feel someone needs to offer another point of view.

I ordered mid-June like most and received about a week after Ken got the parts. First up... I've NEVER had such great customer service. I made lots of impatient phone calls and asked a million questions. Always got good stuff back from Ken. Second... my C90S arrived and to my surprise it was assembled. I bought everything except OS from GenTech. THERE WAS NEVER ANY PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING. I loaded 64bit Vista.... no problems. I removed and loaded 32bit Vista... no problems. Not a crash or heat or overclock issue. I do hope the drop in memory speed bios issue is quickly resolved... but my Asus P5WDG2-WS Professional mobo in my desktop reports the wrong mem speed. I spoke with Asus and they say a bios change will fix both the desktop and the notebook. I expected some bugs but happy there were none....... Remember, we are on the edge of a new design. This is freedom to choose. I'm sure it's only going to get better.

don't know if this has been covered yet, but please help. My C90S has an issue. When I turn it on, its on standard (speed wise) and I have a 2.4 GHz CPU, but is only runs at 1.6 MHz. Then when I use turbo gear and set to over clock, it only goes up to 1.8 MHz. Then when I use certain apps, it goes to the normal 2.4 GHz, but the fans on the back become audible, then when I over clock it only goes unto 2.7mhz. Is this a problem with the laptop, vista, or the bios? It has Artic Five and was pre-setup.

I'm pretty sure that is because of speed stepping. Notebooks usually don't run at 100% but will change as the task requires.

Quick question. When installing Vista on the c90s, should I let it go online to get the latest updates (security updates and hardware drivers)? or will this mess things up?

Yup, even desktop cpu don't run at full speed when not requiered on Vista. My Sempron 3100+ is running with a x5 multiplier rather than x9 when in idle.

it is depend how you set set you power management. If you set it up for desktop config it will always run at full speed except for unplugged AC laptops

If you buy the circuit city C90S their website says the RAM is only expandable to 2GB from 2GB does that mean you can't add a GB?

    C90 supports 3 gb in 2 slots. So (1) 2 gb + (1) 1gb.

Yep, but I honestly recomend you dont try to do 3gb by yourself, get it from a seller directly because it seems very hard (atleast in my experience) to find a working 3gb configuration.

Gskill, Corsair, and OCZ all 3 didnt work for me :/

So I just recieved my c90s and I turn it on and put the windows disc in, start the reformatting and installing process. Well I come back a bit later(the computer is practically on fire, god damn it gets hot) and it's at the begin installing windows part, where it actually has a GUI. I push the next button and the screen just plain shuts off. Yay. It's still on however, so I turn it off, cause I can't get the screen back on. Now when I boot it goes to the windows xp professional loading screen and just freezes immediatly. So I have no idea what's wrong. Any ideas?

Is anyone else having problems running the Bioshock demo? For me it starts up just fine but the game crashes to the desktop immediately after the opening cinematic (I can view the part in the plane but it crashes right after the Bioshock logo comes up).

Try lowering resolution and graphics quality lower until the plane crashes then higher it again later. ALso try using the newer drivers 163.14, 15, 16. Nvidia and ati released new drivers specifically to fix performance and stability with bioshock, the modded inf so we can use them on our laptop should be up 2morrow.

Not true, all the x64 drivers are on the disk and I have not had one problem with running Vista Ultimate x64. Infact I think it runs better than the x86 counterpart.

because most if not all of us having the ram issues where the computer freezes when you boot only have that problem when running from battery, if you use AC power from the wall it works perfectly. I am trying to track down the cause of the problem, its eather the ram is not getting enough power or something, or that power save mode is causing conflicts.

I have not downloaded anything from the site, but I think the x64 drivers are bundled with the x86 drivers. That or they are dual use. Not everything on x64 needs a totally different driver, in my experience almost every x86 vista driver I have had to use on other equipment works just fine in 64bit.
