    Hi guys,

We'll I'm having problems with my C90s, yesterday it was working perfectly I was playing games etc. But now when i try to boot it will make it to the login screen and instantly come up with a BSOD and reboot, its being doing this constantly now. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?, I'm really starting to get sick of this computer I think ASUS should provide users refunds for selling them a piece of crap with lots of problems and no upgrades.

    Cheers,

Have you had issues with it in the past?

If you travel with it a lot check your hardware, Mem, HDD, wireless etc etc, for proper seating, sometime things can come loose.

Are you running 2x1gb memory? If so try with only one of them at a time for each stick.

If you have had issues in the past, I suggest running memory tests as BSODs often relate to memory compatibility. The ASUS C90S is known to be very finicky with ram and is likely your case. Check your ram by either running MemTest86 or something like SP2004 Orthos wth Blend mode* see pic

My C90S has been rock solid since changing to Apacer and Transcend memory, and works in all modes; TurboGear Power Saving, Battery, Gaming etc. No issues.

I understand your frustration, however I would disagree that the C90S is a piece of crap. It's definately a great machine for the price your paying compared to other models/manufacturers, the only thing is that the C90S is not a machine that you would expect run flawlessly out of the box and would require some testing/tweaking/modifications in both hardware and software level to run optimally.

I had moments when I really hated my C90S and even wanted to sell it at some point but I decided to stick with it because the price/performance ratio is awesome and somehow I fell in love with it :D !

It is a laptop with a lot of character and buying something in the C90S price range with such performance without any issues would've been too good to be true!

Thanks for the replies guys, I have only ever had a problem once and that was when i tried to dual boot xp & vista other than that it has been fine, i know it isn't the ram thats causing I have 2x 1gb sticks and I have run memtest before and i came up with no errors, the computer ran fine for aegis and know its just started with blue screens at boot up, i cant even access my user.

I just opened it up and checked all the parts, they all seem to be in the right places, so its probably not hardware related.

Any more ideas?, if not then i'm gonna have to format...

I've been getting frequent BSODs on my C90s for the the past few days as well. It seemed to have disappeared after I opened it up one day and made sure the RAM was secure. But the next day it was happening frequently again and removing the battery seemed to fix the problem. I'm back to normal usage and it's only given me a BSOD once so far.

D3M0N maybe have a look at the Tips and Tricks guide in my signature, under BSOD?

And reseating the RAM may also be a good idea.

Now that's the spirit! Go C90S!!!

I think I would've trashed my C90 a long time ago if it were not for all the help I've received in this ASUS forum!
