    Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about getting a HDD upgrade for my C90s(now 160GB 5400rpm) this christmas and until 2 days ago I had settled for a Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200rpm, but today I found out Western Digital has a 640GB 5400rpm model that is also only 9,5mm high (which is a pre-requisite for the C90s).

I read somewhere (asus support forum, I guess) that the C90s wouldn't support 500GB but I've already seen C90s owners signatures on forums saying they had a 500GB HDD , so I guess it actually works.

    So my question are:

    - Anyone has experience upgrading their C90s to 500GB ?
    - What about anything over 500GB ?
    - How did it go ?
    - Any tips on specific models?

    Thanks a lot !

hi i got the seagate momentus some while ago so i can share it works great and fast with a c90s ak037c

never heard about a limitation for the harddisk from bios... its just limited from the os but you are far away from that limitation with a 500gb hdd

Any 9.5mm 2.5" SATA I/II HDD or SSD will work fine

    Humm...looking good.

I guess I'll go for the WD 640GB 5400rpm then. 7200rpm would be nice, but the battery life would feel the hit for sure.

Thanks for your insight. This forum's been really helpful!

Go for the Hitachi 7k500 7200rpm drive. I think it uses 0.5W more than comparable 640GB 5400rpm drives and is faster. Or take a look at SDD's if money isn't so much of a concern.

Seagate is also et to release 7.5mm HDDs in the first quarter, and should have at least current storage size. Pricing is likely to be slightly higher than 9.5mm, perhaps, given the new tech process.

Thank's for the tip but I think the battery life on the C90s is so lame that it almost makes no difference to choose a smaller HDD to save a little bit of power. I kinda got used to always use mine plugged to a wall so I think I'll go for the beefier 640GB and enjoy the extra 32% storage.

I could swear I saw the link for the new thin HDD on Seagate's page yesterday but it's not there anymore. I clearly remember reading 7,5mm of height but the capacities weren't that high though. I think it was something like 130ish to 300ish if I'm not mistaken. Weird...
