I ordered the c90s back on the 12th, behold it's the 25th and still not shipped
but I am not complaining about that, I just thought someone might want to
know why I don't have a c90, I was told it was due to the long list of issues
that are yet to be resolved. After reading an entire days worth of postings
I finally decided to just ask questions as alot of mine are nowhere to be seen.
Below are my questions.
-----------
Edited this slot, it was a stupid question.
-----------
Q: I've been reading the forums in regards to c90s and everywhere I look
I see people saying with a 7200 hdd the left side gets so hot to the point
you can actually get burns, what I wanna know is if this is actually true or
anywhere near true? maybe someone would like to explain how hot?
------------
Q: C90 & C90S what is the significance of the S?? are they not the same?
if so how?
------------
Info: Fax/Modem/LAN/WLAN
Built-in 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN
Integrated V.92 MDC Fax/Modem w/ Azalia Ver 2.1 compliant 802.11 a/b/g/n
Optional built-in Bluetooth® V2.0+EDR
I've noticed some sites saying these components vary, to keep this simple
is the a b g n all in one for wifi or not? why was the N sometimes listed as
"pre-n"?
-----------
Q: I've been told for some reason the c90(s) will not read all of 3gb ddr ram
on windows xp pro (32bit), can anyone confirm this?
-----------
Q: Is it possible to get a longer lasting battery for this laptop? one that
exceeds the said 2 hour max life? or does no such thing exist?
-----------
Q: It's listed that a TV tuner card is included but I've yet to see anyone
make a post including it or having anything to do with it, is the c90 not
capable of output to a tv or what?

about the drive HD the whole actual burns are exagerations to prove a point it does get warm and somewhat uncomfortable.
currently theres only one model the c90s (the "s" sometimes gets lost in translation)
about the wifi yes it all comes in the wifi card, dunno about the pre n though
I have no idea about the xp and ram issues Vicious tried a triple boot (I think)
battery has been tested in power saver mode with light use to 1:30 hours on most cases.
internal tv tuner is not included but its a possibility though it seems it wont work on ntsc regions (Alexonfyre wrote why but i cant remember)
hope it helps sure everyone else will expand on some of the answers -
Ok I'm stupid for not catching the PCI-E <-- meaning a solid video card..
(It's near midnight and i literally spent the entire day reading the forums to
avoid doing posting repeats.)
So no better batterys? meh ok..
I guess i'm looking for tv in then, so yea.
So no one knows if it can read 1gb+2gb solid ram sticks? aka 3gb total.
As for where I'm getting mine from, ken over at gentech.

I should also ask if it will need a cooling dock?
I also heard the heat pipe is not sufficient? is there a way to get a bigger one?
Does it really sound like a jet engiene with the back fans? -
3 gb is real the thing is you aked about it on xp and the only one that has tried I think its vicious but he didnt reported any problem so... most likely there is no issues with it youmay try asking him directly (ViciousXusmc).
about the cooler its probably a good idea but youll get mixed reactions about it. (I got one for my c90 for when it finally arrives) -

A 2+1 configuration is fine in xp, just dont use 2+2 you wont even be able to post.
Ram is probably one of the bigger concerns with the c90 so make sure you get ram you know works with the c90 or get it installed by your dealer, otherwise you may be in for a major annoyance trying to find/buy/sell your ram.
Im working out with Ken still what to do with my unit, I hope he sends me 2gb of ram that he knows works so I can test it and give final word on my battery issues and things.
A cooling pad will probably help alot if you want to keep things cool inside but it cools itself just fine under normal load, but overclocking mode may be a different story... Myself and Swoley cant run this mode without cooling the computer or it crashes. -
2+1 works in both vista and xp - have tried with both
-
Corsair Value Select 667 1GB or 2GB ddr ram, anyone know?
-
I ordered on GenTech for that the speed everybody talked about.
Sorry for getting off topic. I'm getting a 3 GB ram and will install XP on it, and we'll see what happens. -
So far most succesful combination is 2gb kingston + 1 gb nanya which is what Gentech is shipping with...
I dont mind waiting two weeks just be sure not to get a c90 with issues... so even though it sounds bad its better than getting your laptop then having to rma it... -
Ken has legit reasons for not shipping it out, I'm not here to badmouth him for any reason, I thought the rule about ram was not to mix and match brands??
As for Ken's reasons for not shipping it yet.. if you read the forums theres
bad bio's running around and as Ken said ram being seen as "NULL" in bios
and then there was missing screws to start it all off..
I'm sure that being said it should be clear that holding such a item back
to avoid RMA's and returns would be obvious =p -

I ordered mine from EXcaliberPC because they accept international credit cards. I live in Spain and I ordered my C90 on the 17th of July. It should arrive tomorrow and I sure hope there are no issues as going through RMA will be alot of trouble and money for me. I hate ordering these early units but I just couldn't wait any longer
-
Remember, if you buy from anywhere else that ships it quick without testing, you take your chances.
The heat pipe in the notebook is enough to cool it. One poster had a problem seating it but it was fixed. A external cooler is a choice up to the individual. I personally will buy just a lapdesk to keep it off my lap. Some people have had an increase in temperature from using a cooler. Kinda ironic.... -

Yeah if a cooler interupts the nature air flow and causes turbulance instead it can give higher temps. Most cooling pads seem to have the fans on the corner areas, where as the c90 would need one near the center top side... so I cant say I know of any cooling pads that work well with it.
that box fan worked great thodroped my temps like 20c!!!
I just got a lapdesk myself walmart had one for 15$ and its nice and black, and big enough to hold the notebook and still let you use a mouse. -
theres a new cool pad coming out - cools all parts of the laptop - advertised to drop down up to 60 degrees Farenheit
Cooler Master Notepal Infinite
not for sale yet though sadly because i would get it. it cools your laptop and lap at the same time
