Had this machine for several months, just left the office with it, it was running fine. A little while ago I set it up at home and noticed it never started.
I've tried to get it to POST on battery, on A/C with batty, on A/C without battery. The startbutton lights up, the DVD drive spins up, the HDD light blinks , but no ASUS splash screen, no POST display, no sound, just a black screen.
Any ideas?![]()

take out both memory modules. try one at a time in bot slots. if still no cigar then you need to rma to your dealer if they even offer support
-
Thanks for the response.
Tried swapping the RAM around, no love. Is there a CMOS reset or mobo battery to pull? -
I've had a similar problem with some old dell laptops and have had decent success with the following. Remove the battery, unplug the power. Press and hold the power button for 45 seconds. Release the power and go ahead and plug in the battery and power adapter. Try to turn it on now.
Sometimes a static charge will be present on the board and keep it from posting. Holding the power button with now source of power available should deplete that charge. -
They reset switch is located if you flip the C90S around toward the lower right hand side. You'll need a paperclip to push it and you need to unplug the power and battery. Hold it down for 30-45 sec.

Thanks again folks. Tried both those, no luck.
'fraid this puppy's toast. Unless anyone has another suggestion I guess its a matter of trying to get ahold of tech support. Anybody had a good experience with Cyberpoerpc warranties?
So far, no answer at their888 number and their "LIVE" help is offline. -
Out of curiosity, what CPU do you have?
-
Ive had CyberpowerPC honor their warranties on any PC or hardware I purchase from them, I would imagine it would be the same with this laptop. I got mine from the same place, haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood).
-
Probably your motherboard is dead...
-
Update:
I was able to get tech finally, and found the tech most helpful. Final determination was a "dead" motherboard. He gave me an RMA number, bought it in July so it was still in the 12 month warranty period for repair or replacement.
In answer to Ranger's question, it was the E6700 CPU.
Thanks again for your help, the troubleshooting tips you gave were exactly the same steps the tech went through. -
Some of us already went through the RMA steps and are very well hurst in C90S trouble shooting
PS Nice CPU! -
Hope it doesn't take them too long. I'm already in COD4 withdrawl.
-
Update: I've been informed that the problem was the graphics card (dead, non-functioning). Heat, maybe? Anyone else had their card die?
They were going to run a benchmark routine overnight to see if anything else turned up. Hopefully I'll have it back next week. -
Yup, that was my RMA, dead video card.
-
Yep. Mine too. I guess the first batch of them were pretty flaky.
-
OB, you should ask if they will give you the GDDR3 256MB version of the card and claim you are scared the GDDR2 will just go out again. You never know they might give it to you...
-
GDDR3 card been discontinued because of over heating issues, good luck with this one.
-
Well, it's back, but I am still having problems. Something new or strange everytime I've been on it. BSOD's, drops wireless net and doesn't see any more, Firefox locks up loading a web page and will not close, IE will eventually do the same. Each BSOD seems to be something different.
Did find MS ISATAP ADAPTER #4 driver screwed up and reinstalled. But not certain if that will effect anything.
I had some BSOD's before it went back for repair, but thought the new card would help. -
Check the owner's lounge for some common problems with the C90 you might find some solutions there.
-
May have cleared it up. Had a bad uninstall of Norton AV that I finally cleared up. Haven't had a BSOD in several days. Crossin' my fingers. Also ran the Microsoft Beta Live One scans to clean up the reg. and such. Even installed the face recognition software .
Everything seems fine now. -
Argh the Norton AV pest. Noone should keep that bloated junk.
-
This sucks, same thing just happened to me. I used to have those lock ups in firefox, and ie as well, as well as the wireless problem. Hopefully this will get fixed when I send it back.
C90s won't POST
