    Hello all (again)

It seems like I only bring bad news to the forum, but this problems is really bothering me. I have a TSST TS-L532A CD/DVD combo drive in my Z70v and it will play some original audio CDs, but not others, as well as some burned CDs, but not others. All data CDs seem to run just fine, but the audio ones are not even recognized when I go into My Computer. It just says DVD Drive, doesn't show that there's a CD in there.

Has anyone else had this problem with any drive? I've attempted to fix it by:
-Removing it from the device manager and rebooting
-Physically removing the drive and putting it back in
-Looked for firmware updates (none on Samsung's website)
    -Played with file extentions (CDA)

I'm really clueless about this one...while there have been no major problems with this notebook, the little ones are starting to pile up and drive me crazy. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Will the discs it does not play/recognize work in other drives or machines?

Yeah, they'll boot right up in other machines. I tried my desktop and my parents' iBook and they work in both.

My guess is that you'll find that the CDs that won't play are all 'infected' with the same useless copy protection (read: user annoyance and piracy incitement) scheme. Even if the original won't play you might still be able to make a copy that'll play fine. Check out the forums at cdfreaks.com for most things CD/DVD related.

Might want to update the firmware and/or ide drivers if available. Try some different software as well. Good Luck.
