I have a K61C with a P7450 and am itching to upgrade. On the Asus page it only lists a few CPU's and am curious if any of the 1066 cpu's will work.

    Thanks

i believe your CPU is 1066 already. Look at these two..
    P8800

    P9700

Based on the little bit of research i did for my G72 these may work for you

Run CPUz to find more info on your system

And socket P dual core CPU should work, so you can conceivably throw a T9900 (3.06 GHz) in there.

Related threadjacking: Is it worth $250 to upgrade from 2.26 to 2.93GHz?
I suppose I could sell my P8400 for about $100 after an upgrade, so ~$150?

    Yes, it is.

I have upgraded from T9400 to T9900 and have been very happy about it. Paid $450 for T9900 and sold T9400 for $200.

Thanks I was looking at the P8600 but think I will get the T9400 instead.

Interesting choice... it is pretty cheap. Bear in mind T series CPUs will generate 10W more heat than P series CPUs.

    @ramgen: Thanks :)

I put the P9500 in my G50VT-X5. It really sped things up and with 6MB cache it was better than the P8700 this new G72 has. I want to upgrade the P8700 to a 2.8 or 3.06 CPU but the CPUs are still too expensive.

    Cheers,

How much of a difference did you see and in what applications? Games mostly?

The only applications on my ASUS systems are games. They run significantly better than with the stock 2.13.

All work is done on my Mac. I really wanted a G73 but $750 for the G72 was a much better price. I'm still tempted to upgrade to the T9600. There's one on ebay for $229 that looks like a great deal.

    Cheers,
