    Hi there everyone,
I realize that power 4gear, NHC, Rmclock, etc can all throttle the cpu and can lower the voltage. I mainly use power4 gear and it lets me set the cpu at 365 Mhz(~25% ;) when Im in batterry mode. I would really like to have this option when Im plugged in but it doesnt allow me to do this. Does anybody know of a program, or an update for power 4gear, that would allow me to set the cpu speed at say 25% while plugged in?

I am not actually sure how throttling works, but I tried to do it with Rm Clock a while ago and it didnt seem to do it properly. I know this because I was looking at the system properties speed and it never got down to 25%- only 50% I think.

    thanks for any replies,
    Dan

edit: woops I didnt mean to put throttle in the title of the post.

That's the point of power4gear...... and the others as well. P4G have set levels, while NHC allows you to customize it a bit more.

Does it generate too much heat or something when on wall power? That's a really low frequency... the Core Duo shouldn't even be able to go down to lower than 1GHz via SpeedStep. Are you sure the frequency is really that slow on battery, and it's not just a refresh issue? Does your memory also underclock then?

It generates much less heat when at that frequency. I am positive it is at 365 Hz also. Furthermore, my w3j "feels" much slower than when at the 998 Hz (50 % ;) that the intel speedstep thing gives.

When I tried to throttle with RM clock or NHC it never actually gave me that low of a frequency. It only ever gave me around 50%.

I am also monitoring the speed with mobilemeter.

With Power4Gear, when plugged in the stock setting is for 100% backlight and 100% cpu.. you can change the backlight, but the cpu stays at 100%.... if you're going to be plugged in all the time, but don't want your cpu running at 100%, I suggest NHC.
