I'm running RightMark's CPU Clock Utility and notice that my CPU speed changes dramatically. It'll start off at 1GHz, spike to 1.99 or 2.00Ghz and then go back to 1Ghz. I have a G50Vm-x1 (Best Buy model) w/ the T5750 processor.

Is something wrong or is it supposed to do that?

This is because of EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep) ( F.A.Q)

Checkout the Undervolting Guide on how to lock the frequency at a single multiplier.

EDIT: It should be between 1.2GHz and 2.00GHz....

Also I would advise against this unless it's done for battery or heat savings, in which case the CPU should be locked at a low speed.

    I agree with that. :)

And the small guide does mention:

Was wondering if I should take my nb in becasue the cpu fan is running hard at times. Using the NB Probe I says its running normal but then it jumps to being full on and wont cut down for awhile, and its not even close to overheating its at 47-50F.

You might consider reinstalling the ATK (ACPI) drivers, and/or a BIOS update, for that fan problem.

Weird, dropping a notebook leading to high fan rotation speeds... What are the other temperatures in the system? (GPU, HDD)

Although, in ASUS notebooks usually the fan is driven by the CPU speed only.

The HDD is 45c of 46c, GPU is 55c of 59c core 0 is 44 of 48c core 1 is 46 of 50c and THRM is 47 of 51c this is going off of CPUID
Coretemp says i have an 85c max and core 0 is between 45-52c and core 2 is between 48-55c but the loads jump from 4% to 80 sometimes 100%. It never did that before i dropped it either
When i first got the NB and I would game on it, it would never make such noise and speed up to Fully on in the NB Probe program, after i dropped it it wont stop, I t will only speed up in game and if i window out it will start to slow down and go back to normal speed but as soon as i get back in it wont.
The notebook fell hard right on the side of the vents, broke my usb device for mouse that was there and snapped the case of its hinges. Have to send it in to best buy, but im tryng to wait till after the holidays and not sure if they will mess it up even more after the horror stories i have heard.

Temps are fine. I also find it difficult to imagine how a drop would affect the CPU loads... are you sure you haven't installed some buggy application that takes up a lot of CPU, or perhaps that some malware hasn't found its way into your system?

The CPU load jumping up could lead to the fan speeds ramping up.

But so far I havent picked any bugs up.
Thanks E.B.E I will post a reply if I find something

I guess it can happen that a drop causes a malfunction in the speedstepping of the CPU and/or in the RPM control of the fan, by disturbing some electrical connections... But before we decide that, you can try some other things.

I'm not sure I asked, did you try a restore to factory settings using the recovery partition or the recovery DVD? Also, did you try running for a while in a Live Linux distro such as Knoppix or SLAX, to see how the fan behaves?

What I am trying to do with the above suggestions is to help you isolate a hardware fault from a software one. If the fault(s) appear(s) in a new Win install, as well as Linux, then it's likely they are due to hardware malfunctions.

Yes, I have reloaded windows 4x; but I have not done the linux stuff. I did run in safe mode and it seemed to be running ok durng the 30 min or so i was in there. But same problems with fresh windows reloads.
Asus wants me to send it in, I bought it from BB though; does the Asus company still cover the repair?

I suggest you ask them explicitly about that, to avoid any surprise bill later on.
