    Yes it can. Don't know why you would want to do so as the performance margin is minimal and for the price you pay, not worth it.

    I hope you're thinking about down the road..... becasue going to say a 2.1 will take another what... $500 out of your pocket and for 99% of people (besides bragging rights), will only see an even shorter lasting battery.

    But yeah, whatever they make the 533mhz dothan up to, you can put in there......... I think they are going to up to what...... 2.5/2.7?

    Thanks,
    Justin

    There actually is a noticible increase in integer performance with even a 100 mhz jump. Such is the efficiency of the Pentium-M.

    I will be personally waiting until the 2.2's come out, which is supposed to be the end of the line for a while. After that, Dual core is taking over... at lower clock speeds.

    It depends on what you do........ but like I said 99% of people have no use and couldn't tell if it were faster if you asked them...... most people still think a 2.5ghz p4 is going to be faster than a 2.1ghz p-m......... I'm not pointing any fingers at you, if you can tell and you can use it..... and can make use of the 1.8 that comes in the system, then good for you as most people who just be wasting money.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    A faster HDD and enough RAM to make sure that the swap files is never needed are better investments to boost performance unless you have applications that are massively CPU intensive.

    And both the HDD and RAM are easier to get at than the CPU.

    Indeed... more RAM and a faster hard drive will make the REAL differences. CPUs make a less noticable difference...

    heck, a 7200rpm drive alone would make you forget about that cpu...... although all can be helpful, work in moderation and upgrade the important things as you need them.

    I just realize according to Sandrasoft the Pentium-M 1.86 bench slower than the AMD XP-3200 :(

    Man time to upgrade CPU ehhe When Intel is going to release the 2.4Ghz!!

    One thing to consider when upgrading your CPU. They do have desktop motherboards which uses the intel pentium-m cpu. You could build a cheap desktop eheheh

    Laptop: Asus Z71V From www.proportable.com
    * Intel® Pentium® M 750 - 1.86GHz
    * 2GB DDR2-533 Corsair
