    Hi,

I just installed a Samsung 840 EVO in my UX302LG. It's very fast and benchmarks quite well, but my CPU usage is now a constant 40-50%. I used the Samsung data migration software to clone the HDD, so the high CPU usage is related to the SSD, not any new software or malware installed.

Unfortunately this burns through my battery in 45 minutes.

Looking in Task Manager, there's no single process with high usage, they're all high across the board (between 2-10% each).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you put the old drive back and compare the CPU utilization to verify?

    Hi,

I'm going to bump/hijack this thread because I have the exact same problem.

Just used Samsung Data Migration, cloned disk, new OS is running at 40-50% CPU, all across the board @ 1-3% per process. I repeated the process TWICE with the same results....

    Okay, to answer the questions.

Yes. I installed the ssd through an external USB caddy
And yes, I put the old HD back in to verify it wasn't happening before

    Ideas?
    Thanks.

Sooo... the SSD is actually going over a USB port, not the SATA?

It may be worth doing a fresh install going to the ssd, leave the data on the hdd for reference in case you forget something.
