Hey guys, just picked up this laptop today. Curious as to why CPUZ is reading the processor as 1.5ghz when it supposed to be at 2.0. Although setFSP is reading 2ghz? Confused here... Thanks for the help...

You obviously just havent owned a modern computer in recent years.
The speed isnt fixed, intel and amd processors downclock when not under a load. -
And just FYI, not all intel nor AMD processors downclock.
running at a smooth 2.4ghz now testing to see if its stable.
O and btw... my main rig is running 4ghz on air so please, layoff the comment. -
all intel processor downclock to conserve on energy. the fall on their lowest multipliers. why run at full blast (eg. 2.0GHz) to do nothing?

I like how everyone freaks out like everything i say is majorly offensive to them, thats okay lol. For AMD i believe all mobile Athlon Sempron and Turion. On desktop all Phenom and Ahtlon 64 support it but isnt necesarilly enabled by the bios. ACPI can control it or disable it.
As for intel I have todo a little searching here new to the modern intel, last one was a northwood pentium 4. Intel speed step seems to need os support, though i know acpi has support entries, XP looks like the first to natively use it according to wikipedia.
Doesnt say what cpu's I have to assume all mobile core 2 duos and any celeron/pentium based on penryn and probably merom as well. All desktop core 2 should as well. Googling looks like a bunch of people talking about it not working or not working properly on the i7. The architecture has changed drastically with the i7 not familiar.
There are several methods of reading the processor clock, SetFSB doesnt not use an active method and shows the speed at the native multiplier. Its also known for showing wrong speeds on some systems anyways. If your fsb:ram ratio isnt 1:2 you should measure with cpu-z, always usehe latest for cpu-z too i see alot of people using old versions that dont properly read anything. -
Thanks for the info. I'm not familiar with the i7 either... Still learning about that bad boy.

I cant wait lol. I wish they would either kill off celeron or kill of pentium as they are just a name and theres no reason to have 2 low end cpu brands. The pentium name has been kicked to nothing status.
Core i3 = Entry Level so what does pentium equal? It is below entry level lol.
CPUZ reading G51 as 1.5GHZ
