    Hi.

I just want to ask if the north american version of the W3J has it's memory soldered onto the motherboard. The thing is, that according to my uncle who was going to buy the W3J for me as a graduating present informed me that in HK, the W3J (not refresh) hase 512MB soldered onto the motherboard.

Please, Can anyone with the W3J refresh please check the RAM compartment and tell me if the memory is soldered on!!

PS: the W3J is supposed to have 2 sodimms free right?

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

All the base W3j's are the same, your uncle is probrably misinformed. Only one ENSEMBLE has a 512 ram stick soldered on, which is the W5f.

Not at all, pretty much everywhere you buy it, its the same laptop motherboard, just with a different CPU and amount of RAM, which i decided by the ASUS Area(ASUS N.A., ASUS UK, etc.)

I have never heard anyone say their W3J has memory soldered on. I know its in the W5 range but doubt its in the W3 range.

Definitely, W3J has no any memory soldered on the mainboard. Probably, the user get some wrong information about this. So far, no many models from Asus have memory soldered on except small LCD screen model such as W5A, Z33a, W7j...

    Cheers,
