    Asus G51j-A1
    Asus G51j-3D
    ...

or any Asus G51j models with Core i7 720qm.

Have anyone tried putting 4GB or even 8GB of 1333MHz DDRIII RAM in these models? Does it run at 1333MHz without any problems? (heat and etc.)

I ask this because my brother's old Sony VAIO model lock the bus at 533. Sony intentionally locked it although the CPU can work with faster RAM.
My DDRII ram will run at 533MHz no matter if they're 667MHz or 800MHz.

I wonder if Asus locks it at 1066MHz in G51j models as well ?

    Thank you in advance!

i'm pretty sure that 1333Mhz will work just fine, what i want to know is if we can use 1600Mhz RAM in it! :)

Intel says that memory type for Core i7 720qm is DDR3-1066/1333. So should be no for 1600MHz.

The problem is will even 1333 possible? (does Asus somehow force consumer to use no more than 1066 like Sony did to my brother's VAIO ?)

BTW, by asking and creating this thread, I'm fully aware that there'll be no noticeable difference between 1066 and 1333 though. I only ask this just because I'm curious. ;)

hmmm, you cant really relie of that ARK page, cause accoring to that the i7 920 (desktop proccessor can only handle 1066, yet i know for a fact it can run with 1600Mhz @ 1.65v memory just fine!)

Kingston have some Hyper X so-dimms that can run @ 1600Mhz @1.5v, i'd love asus to add some support for them in the next BIOS release!

Ya would be nice to know if it will be recognized at 1333 because i heard or was reading elsewhere that asus locked it in at 1067 anyone who actually upgraded the ram with 1333 or better would be cool to know if it recognized it and didn't downclock it....
