I have a old PC running a old Nvidia GeForce MX 460 graphics card, and i had got rid of its big bulky monitor due to technical faults and i don't really want to purchase another monitor for this old PC as i use it for torrent downloads, its ON 24/7 just purely for downloads.

So since i have a W3V, is there any possible way that i can connect my PC's VGA/S-Video output into my W3V's video input which accepts either S-Video or digital input, so that my W3V LCD screen can switch views between W3V and my old PC?

i didn't know the w3v had video INPUT (i know it has output). If it does have video input, then of course you can plug hte video out of your pc into your laptop. Alternatively, if you had windows XP installed on that computer, you could simply Remote Desktop into the computer. It's much higher quality and then you don't even need a keyboard and/or mouse connected to the PC, you just do it all remotly with your laptop.... that's how I maintain/interact with the family PC's (one of them is 800km away).

I also use the "original sp2" remote desktop dll that lets multiple people to be connected to one machine (just like a windows 2003 terminal server ;) )

Well....... they're video input through composite video on the W1 and W2 - but not the W3 or W5 or any other computer for that matter that is currently out. It's not easy, but *technically* it could be done on those systems with the right software. Between you and me though, spent $100 or less and pick up a cheap monitor... or even like $150 and get an lcd...

Remote desktop is also certainly a viable option and actually probably a pretty good one and you wouldn't need to be in the same room, or state for that matter..... VNC or something would work also.

I just got a confirmation from Asus return reply that it is not possible to use w3v's lcd to display from another computer. sad as expected.

Well for 50 bucks you can probably just get a device for inputing video through PCMCIA or USB. Try some of those TV tuner cards. But if you ask me, buying a used monitor for about the same price wouldnt hurt. It'll be good to have around also. You know if you ever feel like using 2 computers or if your screen goes out on the W3. It's always good to have a backup computer.

Well the W3 doesn't have any sort of built-in input device... so that's as expected.... the W1 and W2 are some of the only notebooks I've really seen in the last 5 years that even have something like that built-in.

video in is such a low quality, shoddy, way of hooking up to a PC. not to mention it is time consuming, i don't understand why that would even be a solution (it's terribly makeshift). Either get a monitor or remote desktop.
