I just acquired a G1S-X3 from my brother. I've been reading some articles that say you cannot uninstall Vista due to BIOS problems, etc. Also are there XP drivers available for the G1S-X3?

    Thanks, Josh.

I personally have yet to put XP on my system but i plan to do so after i back up my files. I do know that someone has a link to a driver pack for XP somewhere here on NBR. As far as BIOS issues, youre the first person ive heard anything like that from.

    Hi,
I think the G1 is actually fine with installing XP. Depending on which version you have, there may be issues with it seeing your hard drive. Computers designed for Vista have Sata drives that XP has a hard time seeing. The determining factor will be whether or not you can find a Sata driver to load up with XP.

There's also a switch in the BIOS where you can put the HDD into ATA compatibility mode. No major performance loss, and XP will see it just fine. :)

Exactly, as long as you disable AHCI and run in IDE/ATA mode Windows XP will find the drive without needing to load a driver. If you really want to go that extra mile, though, you can buy an external floppy drive and floppy disks so you can load an AHCI driver during the Windows setup process the same way you would a 3rd party RAID controller. You can also slipstream the driver onto the XP disc, too. Still, it's a lot easier to just turn off AHCI altogether.
