Can I use the microphone jack as a line-in? (ASUS 1005HA-EU1X-BK)

We got an ASUS 1005HA-EU1X-BK on sale and are very satisfied with it. It only has a headphone jack and a microphone jack on it though, and I wanted to use it to record some material from a player's headphone jack (which I assume is amplified). I've heard microphone jacks and line-in jacks aren't quite the same and that line-in jacks are intended for amplified sources, while microphone jacks are intended for non-amplified sources.

What's the best option in a case like this? Thanks in advance.
