Can RMClock be used to check CPU temps without affecting anything else?

I wanted another utility to double check my CPU readings from Speedfan. Right now I think the Core1 and Core2 in Speedfan refer to CPU (for my G1S).

Someone pointed me towards RMclock, however I noticed that it can be a replacement for Power4gear. I'd like to keep power4gear in place. Is it possible to install RMclock and launch it only to read my CPU temps? Will this override Power4gear or any other program?

    Thanks :)

I'm 99% certain that if you just run RMClock without setting up any profiles then it will not try to manage anything.

You may even find that if you create and use the Performance on Demand profile then RMClock will co-exist with other power management software since it will not be trying to manage the CPU speed but just change the voltage.

Thanks John. I'm not savvy when it comes to messing with power management software which is the reason why I'd like to just keep Power4gear in place. I'm just looking to be able to launch RMClock check the CPU temps (against that of Speedfan) and then exit the program.

Then I'm sure you will be fine.

If you weren't on Vista I'd suggest MobileMeter.

Do you have the ASUS NBprobe software? That one also reads the CPU temperature.

Otherwise, run RMClock with No Management profile (which is the default) and you'll be fine.

    Thanks all.

    E.B.E -
I do have the NBprobe, however in Vista is just says "normal" and doesn't give a reading (unlike in XP).

So that I understand it correctly...if I don't do anything to RMClock, it's default would be to not have any Management profile?

    Thanks for the help all.
