This problem seems to happen to me usually when I come out from stand by,
My sound icon disappears and I can sue fn functions to control the volume nor does any volume come out period. Like if I run an mp3 i get an error saying "no sound card detected". But If I restart it, it goes back to normal o_O
    Any Help

never heard of this. I suspect software issues. Best advice i can give you is. resintall from scratch and watch what you install. Install one program at a time and test it. it is very lilkely you installed something that vista does not agree with, I have not seen this problem mentioned before so it is safe to assume it is software related.

Before going through the step-by-step process, uninstall and reinstall just the sound drivers, perhaps that'll fix the problem
