I have a z33ae, and I was going to buy a 6-cell w5a battery (4400mAh) for it. I know the w5a batteries are compatible with the z33a/m5a series, but are the w5f batteries? They are basically the same thing as the w5a except they are 4800mAh.

yes it can! same battery but i belive the rating is simply mistyped. w5f z33 m5n and z35 batteries are actually the same! you can use any of the 3 6 or 9 cells
color wont match -
Lets just say that theoretically, the w5f is a 4800mAh, would it still be compatible? Its listed as 4800mAh on many websites including yours:

Proportable lists 3600mAh (wtf?) http://www.proportable.com/detail.aspx?ID=133
I cannot find the offical asus info page, but I do recall that it listed the mAh as 4800 -

It doesnt matter! it can be 1mah. the voltage, apmerage and physical dimmensions most importantly matter. Like i said above. z35, w5, m5, z33 all these batteries are the same and have been tested working in each other. a legal disclaimer would say dont take my word for it. so ofcourse try at your own risk. if you lappie explodes and you get acid spilled on your lap dont come after me
Can a 4800mAh battery replace a 4400mAh?
