ok I have a asus Notebook N71jq and I have replaces the motherboard twice now because of the dc power jack, I have also replaces the dc power jack 3 times, and solderer it 4 times, Is their any thing that I can do to make the dc power jack work more the a few months? I thought about putting heat shield tape on it But I don't no if that would work. I have read that this is a common Problem with the N71. I hope some one can tell me how to fix the thing for good before I jump off the edge and buy an apple computer.

Beaucheney welcome to the forum, Do you mean socket where the power brick plugs into? If yes do you often plug and unplug your power adapter from the laptop?
