    Can anyone find a cheaper battery for the S96J/ ($40 shipped)

    I would be very careful buying that. First, with no picture or description to verify the battery, it very well could be for something else that is called the S96j, or could just be a fluke. Also, some third party batteries are just not good. I would rather spend the money to buy an official battery than take the risk with the other.

    Wouold you suggest only buying a second of the one I recieve from Gentech, or any of the three approved VBI batteries.

    Yes, stay with the VBI approved batteries.

    It is almost impossible to find a laptop battery for $40, so trying find even a better price is going over the edge :)
