I'm running out of ideas. In device manager, I get an unknown device for on Intel(R) ICH10 LPC Interface Controller - 3A18. I've tried the intel chipset drivers and the atk drivers from the asus support site. It's a g71gx rx05.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Searching google this question re: ich10 controller being an unknown device surfaces at least 3-4 years, with no direct links to precise driver files.

Are you experiencing a particular problem, or just looking through the Device list trying to keep it clear as powerusers sometimes do? Sometimes a device issue looks like it's there, but the system nonetheless works perfectly. Perhaps you might be obsessing over a molehill :).

The only issue I experience is occasional heavy drive activity. Also, I'm trying to chase down a left 4 dead 2 problem where the drive runs, it starts stuttering, then locks up.

What does your event log say? Anything? I know sometimes installing virtual drives will cause this sort of thing to pop up.

I don't have any virtual drives installed. What should I look for in event viewer?

Got it.. It's the infared driver.
