It appears to me that for the laptop i'm buying for college, I've pretty much thought that I was going to buy a laptop from every manufacturer at some point. haha. Now, I'm back to my original choices, which were the ASUS z62j or the s96j. Any recommendations? I'm trying to find some reviews on the z62j, but i can't find any at all.

I know I should pull up the questionnaire, but I just want to get some ideas. I don't plan on gaming, but having a video card that can support aero when vista is out would be nice. Since i'm going to be in college, i plan to mainly be on the productivity mainstream. My greatest concerns ultimately come down to WEIGHT and BATTERY LIFE. If anyone could give me some advice, that would be much appreciated.

Integrated graphics will be able to handle aero when Vista comes out. So you could look at other notebooks from ASUS. The W7J is a great portable laptop and also has a dedicated graphics card. The W5F has an integrated card and is slightly smaller than the W7J but has a 12.1" screen compared to the W7J's 13.3" screen. Personally I'm a large fan of the W-Series because of the build quality, which is better than the Z62J and S96J (but they are still great quality as well). If you want to save weight the W7J and the W5F are great. For battery life you can get a W7J with a 9 cell battery that will last (from what I've heard) 5 hours.

Other than that I really can't speak up for the laptops you've mentioned, but I recommend a W-Series laptop for school. That's what I have.

I thought that the Aero Glass required Shader Model 3, most Intel integrated only support SM2. Though I may be totally wrong, I haven't been keeping up on vista news lately/

You may be right, but I believe the Intel 950 will support Vista.
