I was originally interested by the Asus G1 for gaming purposes but as I looked around there seems to be a variety range of models such as G1S, G2S, G1P, G1S-A1. What is the difference between the them all?

Another question I'm wondering is that are the G2 faster and bigger screens then thier G1 counterparts?

Probably best to start by having a quick read of the sticky post (ASUS Information Booth) at the top of this thread. Lots of good information to start off with about different models, etc.

Basically, the G1S is the new Santa Rosa version of the G1P (with a new gfx card amongst other things). Similarly, the G2S is the basically 17" version of the G1S (I think with some other smaller differences). The G1S-A1 is just the stocking code for the G1S afaik.

The G1S-A1 (or just G1S) is the 15,4" version with a 8600M GT
The older G1P is also 15,4" but has the older go7700.

the G2S is the 17" version. It has the same specs as the G1S and is not faster.
