Anyone knows if the Asus A8js can run two external monitors at once?
EDIT: Also a broader follow-up; Can any Asus notebook run two external monitors at once?

Anyone tried hooking two monitors up on the VGA and DVI outputs?
-
On any other computer (desktop) with a standard video card ati or nvidia you would definantely be able to do this. So I dont see why not for a laptop that has both outputs.

I have not been able to do that with any of the drivers I've tried.... as dr4gon said... a desktop with two outputs could output to two monitors..... yes, BUT one of the monitors the video card is outputting to is the computers LCD screen. I'm fairly certainly both the VGA and DVI are getting the same signal... so it's one or the other.

ok, darn. Thanks for the info guys!

well thats the real question
if there is a vga output and a dvi output
or is there just a dvi output and the vga out is connected to it?
If theres two seperate outputs it should drive 2 seperate monitors.
If one is just spliced into the other theyre going to be only mirror.
Id like to know for sure as well. I have serious doubts it actually has 2 outputs, what I think its going to be is that the vga out is just plugged right into the dvi out.
If it is driving two displays its a very rare notebook indeed. I would like to know, I would bet an owner somewhere has 2 monitors. -
I have 2 flatscreen monitors, and tested it just now.
Does not seem to work with extended destop to VGA port, whem using DVI as primary output. Like you said, the VGA port seems to be just an addon to the DVI port.
But cloning works though. DVI+VGA cloned, that is. Or laptop+DVI, or laptop+VGA, or laptop/DVI/VGA only... Many choises, but not dualview with extended desktop DVI+VGA. That works laptop+DVI though, as you probably know.

yeah I just tried it too.. only clone mode worked on both monitors.

Checked one out again today...... clone will work because the connection to vga and dvi is split AFTER the output of the video card.. so it's just there for your choice..... obviously cloning two external monitors is a waste of space.
