I am about to purchase an Asus K52JK-SX031V but I need to be able to run BitLocker on it. Does anyone know if I can? I know I will need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, and I am aware that it does not have a TPM so I will need to set the appropriate Group Policy to allow it to use a USB key for the encryption key. I have done this on several desktop PCs without any trouble, but I recently tried this on a new Lenovo G560 laptop and it just went into an endless cycle of reading the key and rebooting - Lenovo couldn't explain why but I suspect it may have been an issue with the BIOS.

What would be great is if someone has actually tried BitLocker (C: drive encryption) on a K52JK :)

Oh, I did also ask Asus. They took over a week (and several prompts) to come back with the reply "Our engineers are not able to test this although they do believe this should work. But unfortunately they cannot confirm for sure." Hardly reassuring when you are about to spend a whole lot of money on one of their machines! Of course I don't want to end up with a slightly used machine that is useless to me (if BitLocker won't run correctly) :(
