Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace the Intel 5100 link with one of the WiMax capable 5150, 5350, or new 6250 cards? I live in an area with Clear WiMax 4G and would like to take advantage of it. If it can, can you provide the part number of the card? I tried contacting both Intel and Asus and have come up with nothing.

Going to try this this weekend BTW, will post my findings. I have both the 5350 and 6250. Will try the 5350 first since it has connections for all three antennas.

I'm having problems to upgrade from Atheros to Intel. But I think you're upgrade should be fine. Let me know your result.

Decided to hold off until my new UJ-235a slot load Bluray read/write arrives. Open it up and change both out.

It's just a PCIE card and it's from the same series, so in theory yes, you should at least be able to install the 5350. Personally I would just try that since 3 antennae will probably do you more good than a newer series card with 2 antennae.

Well I changed it out but the WiMax functionality won't work. Seems Asus didn't add power to the PCIE port to provide power for the WiMax portion of the card. It would have to have power jumped from a USB port to have the WiMax work.

    That's disappointing :(

Maybe you can find something to give you the extra power, otherwise I hope your soldering skills are good :p
