    Hi guys,

I recently purchased a new internal Samsung SSD 850 EVO (my first SSD ever!) and another internal Hitachi 1TB as a backup drive for my ASUS N73SV laptop.

The HDD's are recognized by the latop and are all showing, my issue is I can't get the laptop to boot from CD so I can install Windows. I've tried all the options and have some knowledge with computers but I'm no expert.

Here are the rest of my BIOS settings if anyone is kind enough to take a look.

I had the same problem on a sager laptop and i manage to get it to work by changing the SATA mode to IDE instead of AHCI. No idea why it worked.

How exactly do I do that? there arent many options in the BIOS, it should be a pretty straight forward thing just to boot from CD but this is more complicated than it seems.

Are you trying to boot from a recovery disc or a windows install DVD. Did you burn the CD yourself or is it a Microsoft disc. I would try to boot using the disc from another computer as well. It is possible that the disc is bad.

Also, make sure your DVD player is still functional, it could a faulty optical drive as well.

OK, I put my old HDD with Windows 7 back in and I tried different DVD and it wont read any of them. It looks like my DVD drive is faulty on it.

Thank you for the suggestion tijo, I'm going to attempt to install Windows 7 from a USB drive.

    Hi guys,

It turns out my optical drive was faulty and I installed Windows from a USB drive. Thank you all for taking a look at my thread to try and resolve the issue.
