This is not a major question but I've been trying to figure out why in all their ads Asus pimps Newegg and Tigerdirect and never says a word about the resellers? It makes little sense to me since Newegg and Tiger only get them later than everyone else and sell 20 other brands as well so they have very little incentive to push the Asus models. In fact, originally I went to them and only once I realized that they didn't have clue did I look around and find the locals [proportable, BToTech and Allasus etc.] Unless there's a financial incentive involved, i can't for the life of me figure this one out?![]()
Any ideas?

Sex sells?
Whoops, wrong ad btw
I wouldn't be surprised if they were sponsors of some sort. -
You said it yourself...there are financial considerations involved. Asus is either collecting bucks from the companies or it's part of a partnership arrangement.

Let me help explain this for you. First, we've gotten plenty of consideration for years now, so I don't feel like we're getting screwed so much as the fact that Asus is run by stereotypical asian women. It's not saying anything about asian women on a whole, but everyone has a stereotype and when someone falls into that stereotype they ruin it for the rest of us. Simply said, they'd sell their own kin if the price was right.
Asus cares about those who know their products, have sold them for many years and most importantly stock their products (almost no one does except for us and a couple others)... everyone else drop ships and that makes it impossible to regulate what you really have to sell (ie: calling a customers two days later and saying - whoops... it's out of stock).. and things like that.
With someone like newegg and tigerdirect, not only don't they really know or see the products, but you'll be lucky if they could even read the whitepapers correctly - don't expect much there. Also, don't think for a second that Asus is anywhere in their top 15-20 brands of products that everyday people are buying. They do however sell a good number of them because they have a reputation of their own which helps extend Asus' reach to everyday people and not just the asus junkies - it guys, the sorts that we would normally see on the forum. Basically, Asus uses them as a jumping point. In return though, because newegg really doesn't care about a product line that isn't just going to sell itself, they approach Asus as though Asus is lucky they'll sell their product....... tigerdirect is the same way. I don't know if this makes sense to you at all..... but we do other programs with Asus and we're on their short list to mention if you call them up on the phone....... But there are some things that newegg and tigerdirect don't care about and that's simply anything but selling the product.....
Asus has made it quite clear to me in meetings that the president of the company cares more about money than keeping a good base. To most people selling Asus' notebooks and only their notebooks for over five years is a testiment not only to the company, but also the product. In many ways Asus would rather say, "we just started selling through newegg". They don't understand the value that a lot of us created for them and they could care less about long term relationships - it's about getting someone to pay for their products and if those companies took stock and never sold them, they don't care. The dealers are their end users and they really don't care beyond that point (except for the support guys, but that's another story).
But also - don't think for a second Asus does anything for free...... they'll help cover some costs if we advertise and use their logos... but if it's done the other way away we have to shell out some as well..... so it's a give and take. -
Got it - exactly as I figured - shortsightness coupled with a desire to make a few quick bucks.
What a bunch of fools. -

Maybe I'm different than most but if I'm buying CD's or Flash Drives I'll go with the cheapest price but if I'm plunking down $2,000 I'm not doing it on the reccomendation of drive thru flunkie who's never actually seen the machine and reads from the specs.
It boggles the mind to think that people are stupid enough to do so.
Oh well - I guess that answered that question. -

It should never boggle anyone's mind that there are stupid people out there... if you think everyone is as smart or smarter than you are, you give the human race far too much credit
