You should do a system restore. That will most likely fix the problem.
If you don't know how just type "system restore" in the search bar in the start menu. -

No need for a restore. Just enable it again. Usually it hides disabled devices in the control panel area so you have to check the box "show disabled devices" and it should be there so you can enable it again.
If that does not work, just go find it in your device manager and enable it from there.
Tell you what since you have the same laptop as me I will do the same thing you did and try to fix it and tell you how
Edit: Yep do what I said before I tried.
> Open up the place you were before where your recording tab is and its empty.
> Right click the empty area and a pop up windows will come up
> Enable "show disabled devices"
> Then enable the microphone again by right clicking it and clicking "enable"
Who else is so awesome to mess up there own computer just to see how to fix it for somebody else?
I hated to see somebody do a system restore over something so minor. -
OMG i cant believe a simple right click fixed it but Thanx a lot man lol thanx again (device manager dint work* been looking there all day)

Nope I use a Nokia N900 on AT&T, great open source linux based phone, it has more features than any other device on market right now IMO.
Like one you would find interesting is it has a IR transmitter on it, so I can use my Nikon D70 remote shutter function from my phone, had somebody make me a desktop widget for my phone that I can just press and my D70 on a tripod from about 15ft away will take pictures at the touch of my phone.
Looks like one of my Tiger pictures above?
Here is my favorite one of the ones from that day-
Can't find my microphone divice or driver
