Hello, I was updating my G50V-A2 yesterday, and when I rebooted after I think it was the ATK or the INF (I had not updated in awhile, everything was out a date I think,) the Direct Console 2.0 utility just didn't load. It was in process manager, the DHelper and DirectConsole but none of them would load up, even when I manually try to load it via Asus folder and the display button on the actual keyboard. So far I have installed it and reinstalled it like 10 different times using a link a found on the forums here and also using the drivers DVD the laptop came with. Anyone have any more suggestions? This is for the G50V-A2 running x64 Vista. Thank you.

First couple searches didn't turn anything up on the offical asus forums... but following the drivers page forum link led me to this: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx...&board_id=3&model=G50V&page=1&SLanguage=en-us which had the "solution"
I downloaded and installed (reboot required after each)
    ATK100 Driver util
    ATK Generic Utilitiy (AGFNEX)
    ATKOSD2
    ATK Hot Key
Direct Message / Direct Console 2.05.

You have to remove the above 4 ATKs and than reinstall them and THEN install Direct Console.
wheeeeee. At least it works again.

Sorry you had to go through this but thanks for the fix data. I've always had a policy of applying updates as they come out, but have learned with the ASUS stuff "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is a much wiser plan. I had to do a complete F9 Restore to get ExpressGate working again, for example, after an "update" went south on me for no perceivable reason. Such fun!
