For some reason I can't run powergear on the G71GX from BB. Whenever I click on the app nothing happens. I can see that its running on process manager but that's it. How do I OC this machine. Also, my windows explorer keeps randomly freezing for a few seconds, is that wrong or expected?

    turbo gear?
i had an issue just like this with turbo gear, but a restart fixed it. try that.

and turbogear is the built in software used for overclocking, its pretty self explanatory, just click the bottom right button to set how much u wanna overclock then hit the top left button to over clock, minimize it after that.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling P4G (standard advice).

The freezes are not expected, and may indicate some software or hardware issues. Do the freezes only happen after you attempt to start P4G? If so then probably the P4G installation is buggy and lags your computer.

Check your event log and see if there are any errors under the System tree. Check if there are applications taking an inordinate amount of CPU.

the direct console of the BB version does not let you do anything I belive.

I was playing with theyr display g71 and direct console opens up but does not let you click any of the options.

The G71 models never allowed overclocking with Direct Console. To do so, you need to do that in TurboGear.
