    Hi all,

I am very new to this forum and would appreciate any help you can provide. I am looking at purchasing 2 ASUS notebooks that would be identical. One for myself and one for my friend. The problem is that I am in Canada (Manitoba). I have been told that for my budget of $1800CAD & under that the ASUS Aj8S-4S013P is the best to go with. I have contacted a few of the resellers and retailers in Canada and received mixed answers. Some say that it is not a Core 2 Duo notebook and that is doesn't come with Bluetooth as well as the 2 year warranty doesn't cover shipping and receiving from ASUS repair depots should I need it.

Having said this (long winded), would this be my best bet in a 14 - 15" notebook from ASUS and would you consider the stability and build as phenomenal as what is being said about this notebook. I have contacted the listed companies for canada from ASUS and like I said, all mixed impressions and information. I would like to purchase before the end of the year.

I appreciate your comments and any help you can provide this newbie.

    Thanks,
    snapkick

    1. The A8Js is stocked with a Core 2 Duo CPU (T7200). Don't mistake this model for the A8Jm, which is only Core Duo.

    2. All new ASUS Ensemble Core 2 Duo models (including the A8Js) come with a standard 2-year global warranty.

    3. While the A8Js is normally not stocked with bluetooth, MilestonePC (based in Markham, ON) exclusively carries the "Limited Edition" A8Js with factory installed bluetooth.

    4. As far as I'm concerned, the cost of shipping the NB to ASUS Canada Service in Richmond Hill, ON is 100% covered by ASUS. Check this thread. Just in case you're wondering, I shipped my W3J from Ottawa, ON.

Having said this, the LE A8Js might be slightly over your price range, but it's still one of the top 14" power-houses out there. Hope this clears things up a bit.

    Cheers !

    Mr. Pigeon is correct.

    A8js: Click Here

A8js with Factory installed Bluetooth: Click Here

The a8js is basically the best performance for the buck 14" laptop, even those some, who want 15.4" laptops went with the A8js because it has a DVI port so that they can hook it up to an LCD anyways for home gaming/usage.

If you want, you can wait for the G1, but that seems to be a little out of your estimated budget, none the less the A8js is one great powerhouse as above mentioned.

    Hi there,

I sent you an e-mail as well to your Canadian offices. It is obvious that I need to step up to the plate and purchase 2 of these units.
    Thanks for the responses

    snapkick,

The A8Js is a great notebook and you should have no worries about it; since you do live in Canada, MilestonePC is the obvious choice in terms of service and selection. I'm sure your Asus experience will be a good one.
Be sure to keep posting on this forum once you receive it! And don't forget to post your thoughts in the "Asus Satisfaction" poll.

Maybe you can write a review for the A8Js too! We would really appreciate it, snapkick!

Good luck with your notebook choices!

Ooo someone from Manitoba, and surely a Winnipeger, lol and by the looks of it TKD avid. I would recommend milstonepc as the only canadian reseller of Asus in Canada. Don't worry about the a8js, it does have its nitpicks, but it is a fine machine. As milestonepc mention, they do have the exlcusive BT version and currently available in both US and Canada. While, if you do miss the chance the only other option is the G1P or buy and a8js with BT from the States.
