Hey guys, I'm really interested in the G1S, but I'd like to upgrade the ram to 3 gigs and the harddrive to something at 7200rpm. I know i can get the stock laptop at my local town from a small computer store, but I worry about warranty, how will it work if i have any problems? Is it the store's responsible to repair it? Or do they send it to Asus? Or do they have the right to do nothing at all? This is my first laptop and I dont want to get screwed. Thanks!

    edit: im from British Columbia

Both options available through MilestonePC.com. They are a reputable reseller around here.

Both RAM and HDD upgrades do not void Asus' global warranty, and since this is an Ensemble model any and all warranty work would be handled by Asus NA - you would be sending the laptop directly to them for any work required.

I was on Milestone, but noticed you can only upgrade to 4 gigs of ram, i only want to pay for 3. Do you think if i contacted them they would do that for me?

What do you consider " far away place out of the country" ??

    Are you in BC??

Because what you want to do can be done at a local Asus dealer in your area. Shipping costs across Canada is insane so check ur local area Asus store

E-mail them and ask for 3, or get 1 and add 2 yourself (or vice versa).

yes, i am in BC, abit in a very small town of 8000 and have no idea where any Asus resellers are. So is the warranty with an esemble model something that the reseller offers, or is it Asus itself who is giving me the warranty?

    Sorry for the stupid questions

Asus' Ensemble warranties are handled by Asus NA, not the reseller :).

It would be like buying a dell from dell.ca, and you'd contact them directly for warranty issues.

Hmm So what kind of things are people doing to theyre G1S's to void theyre warranty already? I thought it had one of the best CPU's and GPU's out so what could they be doing?

Hmm, so one last question, when the ram/hd is upgraded, its the reseller whos doing the work to it right?

If you ask/pay them to when you purchase the notebook, yes. Else, you can order the parts and DIY.
