heard it earlier, but now also from another reseller, so maybe this is post-worthy and not just rumouring:

    G71V ain't coming to Canada.

the G71G-A1 is the replacement model.

    no timeline. no specs.

anyone got specs on this notebook?

What's the big deal? I'll just take my money else where. It's not like Asus makes the best laptop in the world. If they don't offer it then I'll look else where and they loose out on potentially gaining a loyal consumer.

saw that too. but it says "... will be informed as soon as new product info and pricing become available to our store."

so maybe the specs and pricing will be different? i'm waiting to hear back from my local resellers.

I think the G50v-a2 is also getting a replacement. Have been trying to buy one for weeks. Everyone keeps raising the price or going out of stock. I do see a listing on Asus.com for a G50g

i'm also curious to see if the G71 wasn't just pulled globally.

in the G50 threads, there's been some crazy bugs that haven't been sorted out yet. and of course, there's the nVidia chipset fiasco. maybe ASUS is repositioning with say, an ATI pairing? more WiMax? hybrid graphics?

There is also the same entry for G71g, and g70sg. Seems to be its just a change to their coding since even the g70s's hardware refresh has an added 'g'. It could very well be bug fixes and that is why it has been changed, but even I don't know the real reason.

I'm from Spain and I've been wanting to buy the G71V since August, but it keeps getting pushed back again and again.

I don't understand what's the problem with Asus.

I've been waiting for this since August as well, and over the last couple weeks I've decided to not buy it. I'm going with something a bit more expensive, the OCZ whitebook model from xoticpc.

    Here is an update:

Supercom told the reseller that I go to that Asus told them that they are redoing the whole line of notebooks. They didn't say how though. My guess is by redoing, its fixing the bios or just changing the 'v' to a 'g'. (This is only for Supercom, I have no idea about the other resellers in Canada.) They also said it might be here (The G71) by mid October, early November.
