I've been searching online for a car charger for my Asus gaming laptop and all I've found is the "Eee car charger" which didn't have the right output for my laptop, I ordered one and had to send it back. I later realized that it probably was because my laptop requires a charger with a higher watt (the one I tried was 90 I believe), I found this 120 universal charger at the following site:

    http://www.tradestead.com/wholesale...-adaptor/universal-laptop-charger-p-3032.html

I am not sure however if this will be compatable, and I don't want to try it before I know for sure in fear of messing up my laptop. Can someone tell me what kind of car charger I need for my laptop?

Yeah it looks like that one would work, as long as it has the right size connector. However it looks to be one of those volume order sites. I think you'd be better off with an inverter since you can use it for other things besides the laptop.

An inverter? Can you link me a website that has what I need? I'm not that computer-savvy.

Just search for car inverter on the web. I'd go with something around 140W at least, I think the most my Kill-a-Watt has read for power draw on my G50V is about 130W, although I'm not sure it's the same on the Vt in terms of power consumption. It's probably within range though, it can't be much different since they use the same power adapter and chassis. There are two kinds of inverters, they both plug into the cigarette lighter, but one kind is a single unit and the other is the connector with a cable going to a small box. It's really a question of which is better for the layout of your car.

Yes, exactly, I think I paid around $40 for mine, so you're looking in the right range. 140W is my rough estimate of the most power you'd ever conceivably need, so getting something rated even higher is a safe bet.

I think this is my last question, then I'll leave you alone! Haha...it says on the product 12V and the wall-charger that I'm going to use to plug into the inverter says 19V...wont that be a problem?

Thank you for your input btw!

I didn't see my last reply and there was no page 2 so I'm going to post it again, sorry if it comes out twice...

12v is the input (at the cigarette lighter), they don't list the output specs for voltage. They're all pretty much the same, just different wattage ratings. :)

I think that's a 19V output. If you're in the US (actually anywhere I think), all your house plugs are 12V, so that inverter is what you want. Also, I'm pretty sure the G50VT has a 120W power supply, so that should be the minimum number. 140W is safe though.

If you haven't ordered it already and are in the US, David has one i believe new in the box for the G50.

    I personally run an inverter.
